Job Summary:
By Light Professional IT Services has an immediate opening for a full time Associate Transport IA
Test Engineer to support By Light’s newly awarded GSM-ETI Task Order 13: Information
Assurance (IA) Network Engineering Capabilities. An Associate Transport IA Test Engineer
performs DISN integration and IA testing of the transport network elements using vulnerability
scanning, or other security assessment tools, and manual reviews. When weaknesses are
discovered, the Specialist will work with the equipment vendor to identify a solution or seek
other methods to mitigate the problem. Transport network equipment includes Multi-Service
Provisioning Platform (MSPP), Optical Digital Cross Connect (ODXC) and the Optical Transport
System (OTS), and Promina multiplexers.
Security Clearance: Minimum TOP SECRET Clearance required
Responsibilities:

Perform DISN integration and IA testing of the transport network elements using
vulnerability scanning, or other security assessment tools, and manual reviews
 Develop Network Element IA Test Plans and Test Reports are required for all evaluations.
Recommendations for Fielding and Configuration Guide may be required, depending on
the test results and the technology being evaluated
 Evaluate product updates for transport equipment currently used in DISN to determine
how they impact existing network services and equipment
 Deliver Test Plans, detailing proposed test cases, and resulting Test Report following
successful completion of testing. Other documents, like an Network Element IA Fielding
Plan or Network Element IA Configuration Guide may be required

Perform integration testing of software used to manage network transport equipment to
determine suitability for DISN deployment
 Provide Tier III engineering support to field operations and theater personnel and deliver
Encryptor Lessons Learned reports
 Conduct testing in customer lab and contribute to the support and maintenance of the lab
Qualifications/Experience:
 Detailed-oriented, self-motivated experienced individual with 2+ years of experience as a
Security Engineer for DoD/DHS clients
 DISN or GIG BE Network experience
 Experience using vulnerability scanning products, such as Nessus, on network equipment
to detect open ports and/or known vulnerabilities, or to validate device configuration.
 End-to-end transport network testing in customer lab environment. Configuring network
devices and experience in setting up and running network test tools.
 Knowledge and experience using optical switching equipment is required, to include
configuration and testing of devices that implement Synchronous Optical Network (SONET)
/ Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) and Optical Transport Network (OTN) protocols.
 Sycamore SN9K and SN16K, Ciena DWDM and Cisco MSPP equipment experience is highly
desired
 Knowledge of cryptographic technology, algorithms and secure protocols to include:
SNMPv3 and other Type II encryption
 Demonstrated experience with Type 1 inline network encryptors used to protect data
traffic on classified networks
 Experience with Ixia, Spirent and JDSU test equipment
 Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with
management and staff at all levels
 Candidate should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education/Certifications:
 BS in Networking, Telecommunications, or related area, or equivalent combination of
education, certifications and experience
 DoD 8570-01-M IAT Level II or higher to include Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, or CISSP
 Other relevant certifications include Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Pen
Tester (GPEN) and/or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
