Overview
The Native American Student Development Office (NASD) is an undergraduate retention
program that operates under the support of the Multicultural, Sexuality & Gender Centers
(MSGC), a component of the Office of Equity & Inclusion. NASD seeks to holistically support
Native American undergraduate students, as well as guiding campus efforts to retain and
graduate Native American undergraduates from UC Berkeley. The Office Coordinator works
with the NASD staff and the greater Native American community on programming and
events that are related to the office.
Job Responsibilities:
Overall tasks include collaborative and independent work in the office and programming for
Native American Student Development/Native Cal organizations and the Multicultural
Community Center. This position will be responsible for continuing collaborative work
between the NASD and MCC. This position will also work with Native students at the
university to inform perceived student needs and help to determine focus areas and
assessment for programming implemented. This position requires excellent organizational
and time management skills, as well as a willingness to work collaboratively with Native
students at Cal and NASD staff.
Primary tasks may include, but are not limited to:









Complete assigned tasks given by supervisor
Research for programs as needed
Create and maintain an inventory of academic support resources, expenses for
individual programs and other resources as needed
Complete necessary paperwork for programs as needed
Assist in communication between NASD and student groups and individuals
surrounding academic needs
Work with NASD Coordinator and student staff on strategic planning
Participate in the creation of mission/vision/goals for a Native American Student
Development programs at UCB.
Act as student employee and Community Liaison, attending and organizing meetings
as necessary.
Coordinate and follow-up on assignment of tasks ensuring their success
Qualifications:
 Experience with working in the Native American community.
 Familiarity with or willingness to learn office procedures
 Commitment to the development of the Native American community at UC Berkeley
 Ability to use Microsoft word, power point, Pages, Photoshop, and InDesign
 Excellent time management skills
 Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team




Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of the UC Berkeley campus, student services and ASUC
Understanding of needs within the Native American student body at Cal
Availability to work at least 6-10 hours a week.
Hours/Compensation:
NASD/MCC Liaison is hired to work 6-10 hours a week at $11.15 per hour.
