As you are most likely are aware, Anne
Arundel County Public Schools has
begun using an automated telephone
notification system called Connect-ED
to increase communication between
schools and parents. During the last
school year, the system was used not
only to notify parents of weatherrelated delays and closings and other
emergencies, but to alert them to key
events in many schools around the
county.
The system is being expanded this
year and you will be receiving a variety
of calls between now and June, when
the school year ends. The newest
feature will be attendance notification,
where parents will receive a call when
their child has an unverified absence
from school.
Guidelines have been put in place to
ensure parents are not overwhelmed
with calls. The school system’s Public
Information Office will send out school
delays and closings as well as
emergency messages when warranted.
Individual schools will most often send
out “community outreach” messages
to inform parents provide e-mail
addresses to their child’s schools.
Messages also will be posted on the
school system’s Web site and can be
accessed by using this link:
http://aacps.org/publicinfo/connected.
asp.
It is critical that you keep our
school updated with the correct phone
numbers and e-mail addresses so that
we can configure Connect-ED to reach
you quickly when needed. Connect-ED
will call one number and send up to
two e-mails for community outreach
messages, and can call up to six
numbers and send up to two e-mails
for emergency messages. Attendance
notification messages will be sent to
the student’s primary phone number,
which is usually the home number,
and to up to two e-mail addresses.
If you have more than one child
in the same school,
don’t worry. Connect-ED only
sends one call per number so
you won’t receive multiple calls
with the same message. The
exception to this is attendance
notification message, which will
be delivered for every child who
is absent.
Information from
Mathematics Office
A visit to the Anne Arundel
County Public Schools website
provides a great deal of
information about mathematics
instruction. The Web Resources,
Textbooks, and Study Links
sections will be helpful to both
students and parents throughout
the year. In order to access this
information, first visit the
homepage at www.aacps.org.
Then use the toolbar across the
top of the page, clicking on
Instruction/Curriculum. Next,
select Mathematics from the
menu of choices. Use the
buttons on the left side of the
Mathematics Homepage to
explore available resources.
Morning Student
Drop Off
To ensure the safety of all
students, please drive your
vehicle in a single
line and wait your turn to drop
off your students.
Students exit only from right
side of car only.
If a longer drop-off time is
needed, please use the available
parking spaces and park.
Thank you for your support in
keeping our children safe.
Arrival and Dismissal- School
officially begins at 8:05 a.m.
Children who arrive after that
are marked tardy and do not
have time to properly prepare
for their day’s work. Children
are admitted to the building
beginning at 7:45 a.m. and
should not be at school prior to
that. Students in grades 1-2
enter through the front Media
Center doors. Students in
grades 3-5 enter through the
rear Media doors. Children
eating breakfast enter through
the office doors and are
encouraged to be here no later
than 7:50 a.m.
Bus riders are dismissed through
the media doors. All walkers
leave by their pod doors directly
to the outside at 2:30 p.m. The
lane in front of the building is
reserved for busses, and cars
entering the areas marked DO
NOT ENTER are subject to traffic
citations. Parents are requested
not to block the parking lot
entrance while waiting for their
child and to make use of the
parking lot adjacent to the
school at arrival and departure
times. Parents who drop off
children in the morning must use
the side parking lot and follow
the marked lanes. A staff
member is there to greet the
students.

On Thursday, September 30,
2011, your child will bring
home a Federal Impact Aid
Survey form. Please assist
us by filling out the
information requested on the
form and return it to Manor
View Elementary School.
This is a multiple child form
and will hold up to three
children’s names. Should
you have more than three
children, please utilize a
second form that you can
either obtain from the school
or download from the AACPS
website (www.aacps.org)
under Students, Forms. The
Federal Impact Aid Survey
form for 2011-2012 will be
available to download on
September 30, 2011. We will
also be using our Connect-Ed
Automated Telephone
Notification System to remind
you about the significance of
completing and returning this
survey. The school system
receives approximately $3
million in funding from the
Federal government in
support of our children after
the forms are processed.
