The goal of the study is to demonstrate the role of Percutaneous Atrial Appendage
Occlusion as an alternative to long term anticoagulation for patients with Atrial fibrillation.
(This clinical study is the first comparative study comparing medical treatment versus closure of Atrial
appendage for the prevention of stroke. In view of the large number of patients with Atrial fibrillations if this
study is positive it will create a large impact in the community. The study completed enrollment in 2008.
