UP LATE AT STATE STUDENT EVENT STAFF JOB DESCRIPTIONS Position: Reports to: Time Period: Rate of Pay: Up Late at State Student Event Staff Julia Broskey, Specialist, 309-438-5495, jbroske@ilstu.edu August 1, 2015 – May 6, 2016. Hours vary per week ranging from 0 – 14, averaging 5 hours per month $300 Bone Dollars per semester General Statement of Purpose and Duties: Up Late at State is a Dean of Students office initiative to provide alcohol alterative programming for all students at Illinois State University. These events occur once a month and include food and interactive activities. The Dean of Students office intends to decrease alcohol related violations and destruction as a result of student participation in Up Late events and consuming food while at these events. Up Late at State strives to provide alcohol alternative programming by: Providing programming during the late night (8pm-1am), weekend hours (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) for undergraduate students as an alternative to binge drinking Being a contributing factor in the reduction of off-campus alcohol violations, on-campus alcohol violations, and alcohol related property destruction Regularly attract new students as first-time attendees to Up Late events Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Attend Up Late events 2. Attend weekly staff meetings 3. Manage one area of the Up Late event and supervise volunteers assigned to that area 4. Assist with the creation of events 5. Offer ideas for themes, activities, food, vendors and marketing 6. Attend a staff retreat in spring and fall semester 7. Assist with a minimum of two marketing duties for each Up Late event 8. Jointly coordinate the marketing for Up Late events with other event staff. Provide final assignments to Student Activities and Involvement Specialist. Access and management of twitter, facebook and instagram accounts, including daily posts on all accounts 10. Attend Up Late events 11. Create a facebook event for each up late event and send invitations to staff/followers 12. Develop social media initiatives to increase followers and likes, including steady social media presence during weeks without events. 13. Attend weekly staff meetings 14. Meet weekly with Student Activities and Involvement Specialist to discuss analytics, followers, trends and other relevant information 15. Create and discuss schedule of social media posting with Student Activities and Involvement Specialist. This includes pictures, videos, and copies of UMC marketing materials. 16. Create and market hashtag for each event 17. Utilize hoot suite or a similar application to schedule updates and posts 18. Create trending initiatives including: Motivational Monday, Throwback Thursday, Sunday Funday, etc. 19. Create new accounts in relevant and approved social media platforms 20. Take photos on the Up Late camera during the event (photos on smart phone/tablet optional) 22. Attend Up Late events 23. Attend weekly staff meetings 24. Download and edit all photos. Post all photos on facebook and other social media platforms within 48 hours following the event. 25. Place all photos on a CD or memory stick (provided by supervisor) and give to the Student Activities and Involvement Specialist within one week of event. 26. Coordinate photography efforts with UMC photographer during all Up Late at State events.
