THE FAMOUS 1886 LAUNCHES VISITING TAILORING SERVICE
Richard Cole, owner of TheFamous1886 and former menswear director of The Famous
(Cheltenham) Ltd, has responded to customer demand to proudly offer Cheltenham’s first
and finest visiting tailor service.
Richard explains “men are increasingly interested in looking their very best and expressing
their own style both in the workplace and about town. There has been a move away from
traditional ‘uniform’ to something personal and unique; and a tailoring service offers this. I
can offer 3 levels of service; Off the Peg, Personal Tailoring and hand-cut SemiBespoke….and all are surprisingly affordable with great quality pure wool off the peg suits
starting at £350; as well as ranges of tweed jackets using authentic Donegal and Harris
tweeds.”
Richard continues “Tailoring can be daunting to some and I particularly want to reach out to
men who have not used a tailoring service before but want to achieve a more unique look
and the best fit.” As well as consulting and fitting clients at his Berkeley Mews showroom,
Richard is excited to offer visits to clients at home or work (within 20 miles of Cheltenham or
further by arrangement), recognising today’s busy lifestyles do not always allow clients the
time to shop for that special garment.
The service is not limited to suits with trousers, waistcoats, and jackets (including vintage style
tweed or velvet) also available for those men looking for something a bit different. A unique
made to measure garment can be ready for the big day in just 6-8 weeks, so even grooms
who have left it late or changed their mind are catered for!
The semi-bespoke service offers many features normally associated with very top-end
tailoring. Customers will have a choice of over 1,000 cloths; mainly from British cloth houses
and including suiting fabrics, corduroys and glorious authentic Harris tweeds. Over 45
measurements are taken and then a choice of more than 60 details and features mean the
semi bespoke service is perfect for a gentleman looking for a special garment. Personal
Tailoring is the entry level to made to measure tailoring with a more limited choice of cloth
and details but offering great quality at a great price. Off the Peg tailoring offers superb
quality suits, jacket and trousers that will still be expertly fitted (with alteration options).
Richard offers a no obligation consultation to discuss ideas and options, and he can also
supply or advise on accessories drawing on his extensive experience in menswear and with
his eye on menswear trends. “I aim to exceed customer expectations on quality and service
and am really excited at the prospect of playing my part in seeing British men continue to
raise the style stakes and to be and feel the best version of themselves.”
