RPL
RECOGNISED PRIOR LEARNING involves a formal recognition of the skills and knowledge your staff members have already achieved
through previous studies, work and life experiences. Employees may be awarded full or part qualifications on the basis of their RPL
assessment. Credit is the value assigned for the recognition of equivalence in content and learning outcomes between different types of
learning and/or qualifications. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to achieve a qualification and may be through credit
transfer, articulation, recognition of prior learning or advanced standing.

process
RPL assessment:
• as with all assessment, will be undertaken by academic or teaching staff with expertise in the subject, content or skills area, as
well as knowledge of and expertise in RPL assessment
• will be the same standard as other assessment for the qualification
• will recognise learning regardless of how, when and where it was acquired, provided the learning is relevant to the learning
outcomes in the qualification
• Applicants must provide evidence that is valid, authentic, current and sufficient so that the process is fair, flexible reliable and
valid
• The applicant will be required to undertake a series of questions and also tasks. The applicant’s answers should reflect a clear
understanding of the unit’s elements and performance criteria, the required knowledge and skills underpinning the applicants
knowledge and demonstrate the critical aspects of the unit and the industry standards and legislative requirements.
