3550 LIDDELL'S MINE CALCINE SANDS REMEDIATION PROJECT
Ms Edwards to ask the Minister for Environment and Climate Change —
With reference to the remediation project at Liddell's Mine Calcine Sands:
(1) When did the independent environmental audit of the calcine sands take place.
(2) Who was contracted to carry out the independent environmental audit.
(3) Will the results of soil and water testing done by the independent auditor be made publicly
available.
(4) When were the soil and water tests carried out.
(5) Has an environmental impact assessment been carried out with regard to the proposed clean
up and post clean up.
(6) What measures will be put in place to protect the residents within a five kilometre radius of
the calcine sands while the remediation works are underway.
(7) What measures have been put in place to prevent the toxics present on the site from
becoming toxic gasses (off gassing).
(8) What measures have been put in place to ensure there will be no migrating of toxic soil off
site and continuing to enter the environment.
(9) What is the total cost of the remediation works.
(10) What funding has been delivered over the past four years to contain toxics at the site and
reduce the level of exposure to nearby residents.
(11) Will there be ongoing soil and water testing of the site and surrounding properties post the
remediation works.
(12) What risk mitigation will be implemented for exposure to all persons including sightseers,
bush walkers and general public walking through the site following completion of remediation
and into the future.
3551 MERCURY LEVELS IN UPPER GOULBURN AND LAKE EILDON
Ms Edwards to ask the Minister for Water —
With reference to testing mercury levels in Upper Goulburn and Lake Eildon:
(1) Which specific areas of water in the catchments were sampled for mercury levels.

(2) Which geographical area were samples drawn from.
(3) How frequently is each sampling area sampled throughout a year.
(4) In what months did the sampling event for each location take place.
(5) How many samples were drawn representing each specific location on each sampling event.
(6) What was each sample analysed for.
(7) What were the parameters tested on each sample.
(8) What were the results on each testing sample.
(9) Which laboratory performed the analyses.
(10) Does the testing laboratory hold a current National Australian Testing Authority
Certification for each analysis performed.
3552 REMOVAL OF MERCURY AND ARSENIC FROM THE ENVIRONMENT
Ms Edwards to ask the Minister for Environment and Climate Change —
With reference to removal of mercury and arsenic from the environment:
(1) What projects is the Victorian Environment Protection Authority (VicEPA) involved with in relation
to the removal of mercury from the environment.
(2) What projects is the VicEPA involved with in relation to the removal of arsenic from the
environment.
(3) What projects are being funded by the Government or associated bodies in relation to the
removal of mercury from the environment.
(4) What projects are being funded by the Government or associated bodies in relation to the
removal of arsenic from the environment.
