HONORS DAY @PHS Gym @ Commons Area at 8:30
Program begins at 9:00 am and ends at 11:30
ALL seniors are required to attend.
Top Ten sit in the front row all others can choose where they sit during the ceremony.
No shorts are allowed. Dress neatly and APPROPRIATELY following the guidelines of the dress code. No
tee shirts, jeans, or gum!
Friday, May 18th Baccalaureate meet @ PHS Tiger Alley at 12:45 pm
Practice is mandatory to participate in the ceremony. In other words, if you do not attend practice, you
will not be allowed to participate in the Baccalaureate ceremony and services on Sunday. We will leave
the school and practice our walk to the church. You may park at the church and leave directly from there
after we are finished at 3:30 pm.
Sunday, May 20th Baccalaureate @PHS Tiger Alley at 7:00 pm













Seniors meet at the school at 7:00 pm: boys in Mrs. Barker’s Room and girls in Mrs. Newman’s
Room. The ceremony begins at the church at 7:30 and will end around 8:30.
DO NOT WEAR your robe to school. You will dress in your robe and cap when you get to school.
DO NOT DECORATE YOUR CAP.
Tassel is on the left side. Cap is on straight, not on the back of your head.
Girls do not wear flowers, distracting jewelry, or other additions to their robe or collar.
NO GUM.
Line will form in Tiger Alley at 7:15 sharp.
The ceremony is special and you should walk to the church observing its importance. Walk with
dignity and pride: not talking, or waving, or showing a lack of reverence.
During the procession, stay one arm’s length behind the one in front of you.
Seniors stop at the first door of the church before they are signaled to enter.
Ushers lead seniors to the second door and then down to the front pew when “Pomp and
Circumstance” begins playing. Remain standing for the Invocation.
Boys: remove caps during prayer and put back on after prayer.
Remain standing until after the Invocation.
Upon leaving the church, go all the way down the steps to the sidewalk before talking.
Tuesday, May 22nd Senior Breakfast @Ramada Inn at 9:00 am
Meet at the Ramada Inn at 9:00 am. The dress is casual. The breakfast is sponsored by the Board of
Education. Remember to say ‘Thank You” to the Board Members who are in attendance. This is a time
for “roasting” your classmates and being together one last fun time with your class.
Tuesday and Wednesday, May 22nd & 23rd Graduation Practice @PHS Gym at 1:00 pm
Meet in the PHS Gym promptly at 1:00 pm. These are mandatory graduation practices. If you are tardy
or fail to attend you will not be allowed to participate. This requirement is in your Senior Activities
Contract which you and your parents both signed.
Thursday, May 24th Graduation Practice for Students who will giving speeches/performing
Meet in the Gym promptly at 1:00 pm. Expect to stay until 3:00. This is a mandatory practice.
Friday, May 25th Reception for seniors & their Families in the PHS Cafeteria
Meet in the PHS Cafeteria from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. After the reception your parents will go to the gym and
take their seats. They will give their tickets to the ushers in order to be seated on the gym floor.
Commencement 8:00

















Personal Appearance
No distracting jewelry or additions to the cap and gown.
No tennis shoes or inappropriate footwear.
NO GUM.
Sit up straight, do not slump. Do not place your feet on the chair in front of you.
Those on the stage should be aware of how they sit. Do not cross your legs. Cross at the ankle if
you wish.
Boys are to wear ties; girls wear your collar.
Do not wear your gown to school. Boys dress in Mrs. Barker’s Room and
girls in Mrs. Newman’s Room.
Procedure
Seniors will line up in two separate lines in front of the PHS Cafeteria at 7:30 pm.
Everyone will be ready to proceed by 7:45 pm.
The teachers lead the graduating class into the gym.
Students will proceed to their assigned seat and will remain standing until the Invocation is
finished.
Boys remove their caps during the prayer and put it back on afterwards.
Seniors speakers move to the stage- ushers assist the students up the stairs.
At the presentation of the class the seniors will rise and remain standing throughout the
remainder of the program.
Upon presentation of the diploma, shake the hand of the one who delivers the diploma, but
under no circumstances are you to look at the diploma until you are out of the building. If you
have the wrong diploma, it is one of your classmates and can be easily remedied.
Seniors lead the recessional and go straight out into the lobby of the gym. Teachers and usher
follow.
NOTE: Ushers are to be at the PHS Gym by 7:00. Have your programs ready to give out.
