OSC Policy 5 Distinguished Service Awards OSC will present Distinguished Service Awards to club members who have made major and sustained contributions to meeting the principal objective of the club. The objective of Overlander Ski Club is as follows: "To promote and encourage recreational and competitive crosscountry skiing at all levels and for all ages in the Thompson area of British Columbia" To achieve this goal requires substantial and sustained efforts on the part of Club members. To encourage the spirit of volunteerism within the Club the Distinguished Service awards will be made on an occasional basis. The award will consist of a plaque for the recipient and a perpetual plaque holding the names of all Distinguished Members. The perpetual plaque will be displayed in a prominent position in the Day Lodge at Stake Lake. The award should be made at a suitable event open to all Club members. Nominations for this award should be made in writing by a Club member to the Executive Board for consideration. Nominations can also be made by the Executive Board. Nominations should receive unanimous support from the Executive Board. All nominations will remain confidential. Approved 2011/4/15; reapproved 2011/12/5 Nomination for the OSC DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD April 2011 We wish to nominate Bob Furseth of Kamloops for the Overlander Ski Club’s Distinguished Service Award Bob has worked on the Trails crew erecting signs, repairing signs, repairing shelters and removing rocks wood and seedlings from the trail surface for 20 years He organised a group to build the first route to the Lookout and helped build the Lookout shelter … twice! For 20 years Bob has served as a valued member of the Trails committee He has helped with the Ski for Light events and has served as a course marshal for numerous other events over the years. Bob is an avid skier. He skis several times a week and represents the Club with distinction at local loppets, and most recently at the World Masters Cup. Bob Furseth’s willingness to volunteer is an example to all members of the Club and he richly deserves to be presented with the OSC Distinguished Service Award. For 20 years Len has served as a valued member of the Trails committee Len is an avid skier. Despite his lung ailment, he skis several times a week, slowly but steadily, enjoying the Stake Lake experience. He has a cheerful smile and wave for everyone. He has helped with the Ski for Light events and has served as a course marshal for numerous other events over the years. Len Mackay’s willingness to volunteer is an example to all members of the Club and he richly deserves to be presented with the OSC Distinguished Service Award.
