Decisions affect the academic mission, safety, social environment, and public image of the university. The areas supervised by this person have a particularly high level of public visibility and decisions have significant consequences for students and the campus at large. For example, the alcohol policy, escort, housing, and student conduct affect the safety and protection of students, campus personnel and property. Decisions on discipline, student union activities and housing policies affect the recruitment and retention of students as well as the campus at large.
