Tracy Gary transforms communities as a philanthropic and legacy advisor, nonprofit entrepreneur,
donor activist and coach. In a lifetime of catalyzing people and resources, she has collaboratively
started 23 nonprofits including Resourceful Women, the Women’s Foundation of CA,
Changemakers, The Women’s Funding Network, The International Donor Network, (now called
EDGE: Engaged Donors for Social Equity) and Inspired Legacies. She recently co-founded
Unleashing Generosity, a learning community that offers resources, coaching and inspiration for
giving circles, donor networks, financial and philanthropic advisors, families and individuals.
Through her for-profit consultancy, Wholehearted Philanthropy, she works as a coach and advisor
to individual donors, families, family foundations and businesses. Tracy is also a philanthropic
advisor within Triskeles Foundation.
Throughout her 40-year history in the field, Tracy has served on over 35 boards of directors. She
has helped raise over $750 million and leveraged billions for social change justice, community
building and environmental groups. Tracy is the author (with Nancy Adess) of Inspired Philanthropy:
Creating a Giving Plan (Jossey-Bass, 3rd edition, 2007). She is available for media interviews,

A donor activist and nonprofit entrepreneur for 40 years, Ms. Gary educates and coaches individual
donors, family foundations, financial service organizations and nonprofits on the stewardship of
money, leadership, and philanthropy. At the heart of it, she discovers what is important to those she
educates and supports. Then she offers leadership coaching to assist them in channeling resources
to what is important to both givers and receivers.
Ms. Gary has served on 35 boards of directors and has help to start 23 nonprofits and foundations
including Resourceful Women, The Women’s Funding Network, Changemakers and Inspired
Legacies. Traveling 50 states in the US, as well as international locations, Tracy promotes impactful
giving and service.
Currently Ms. Gary co-directs Unleashing Generosity, a project within the Triskeles Foundation. Cofounded with Karen Payne in the UK, Unleashing Generosity is a learning community that offers
resources, coaching and inspiration for giving circles, donor networks, financial and philanthropic
advisors, families and individuals.
Through Wholehearted Philanthropy, her for-profit consultancy, Tracy works as a philanthropic
advisor for a wide array of groups including private, family, and community foundations; regional
grant-making associations; American Express, the Institute of Noetic Sciences, individuals, families
and grassroots community groups.
