Scarlet Letter Teaching Assignment Details and Due Dates Student Driven Teaching and You – Make the Connection Your responsibilities when teaching your chapters: 1) You must create a five question quiz that all students will take (with the exception of the students teaching the chapter). a. The quiz must focus on content of the chapter only, and may be multiple choice or short answer. b. The quiz must be turned into me for review at least one day prior to your teaching day. 2) Teaching times per chapter are as follows: a. One person = 10 minutes b. Two people = 15 minutes c. Three people = 20 minutes d. The quiz does not count as a part of your teaching time. 3) While teaching the chapter, you must address several things. a. You must give a summary of the chapter that details (chronologically) what the chapter is about. b. You must refer to and discuss any themes that the author presents to the reader in the chapter you have chosen. c. You must discuss any symbols and hypothesize about their importance. d. You must talk about the development of characters in your chapter. e. Discuss any other literary devices the author uses. i.e. Irony, foreshadowing, allusions, etc. (Find at least three per chapter) 4) You will be expected to take questions from Mrs. Wagner and your fellow students at the end of your lesson for a maximum of 5 minutes. 5) I will provide the HOMEWORK for each chapter.
