The Arc Hires Director of Philanthropy
Egg Harbor Township, NJ – December 16, 2013 – Patrick J. Manion, MBA, of Egg Harbor Township,
has joined The Arc of Atlantic County as Director of Philanthropy. Manion oversees all of The Arc’s
fundraising activities and assists donors in considering various gift plans to accomplish their
philanthropic goals. Manion’s expertise in philanthropy and planned giving will be a tremendous
help as The Arc of Atlantic County seeks to expand and strengthen agency resources to better serve
people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
Prior to joining The Arc of Atlantic County, Manion served as Director of Global Branding for
Ambassadors for Philanthropy. He advised the CEO and other team members on global business
partnerships and social media. Manion has 15 years experience as a planned giving professional.
He worked for several charities in Philadelphia including the American Friends Service Committee
as Associate Director of Gift Planning. During his tenure the program grew by 50% and he closed
many complex major and planned gifts. He is a member of the Partnership for Philanthropic
Planning of Greater Philadelphia and has served on several committees.
Patrick serves on the Development Committee of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in
Philadelphia and supports the Music Ministry. He also volunteers as a lector for The Mass on 6ABC.
He established a family scholarship fund at Rowan University in memory of his grandmother in 1993.
Patrick also supports organ donor awareness in memory of his sister through Organ Donor Day at
Rowan.
Patrick graduated summa cum laude from Johnson and Wales University in Providence Rhode
Island with a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing. Patrick was awarded his Master’s in Business
Administration and has done post graduate work at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania.
Manion also has experience in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities
through his recent work in the public school system. Manion says, “I recently worked in several
autism classrooms in the local community as a guest teacher. This was a very rewarding
experience, a true gift. I look forward to raising funds and awareness for people with intellectual
and developmental disabilities.”
The Arc’s Board President Herb Hummel says, “The Arc of Atlantic County is thrilled to have
Patrick join our agency. The Arc has developed a strong fundraising program over the years,
however Patrick will help take The Arc to a new level of fund development and help secure a
brighter future for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.”
