We bring people together, provide information and support, and campaign for improved standards of care. We’re here for the 55,000 women and 400 men diagnosed with breast cancer each year, helping them to cope with the brutal reality of waking up to breast cancer every day. We provide the vital information and support that they, their families and friends so desperately need, and use our understanding of people's experience of breast cancer and our clinical expertise in everything we do. We want every person affected by breast cancer to get the best treatment, information and support. About the Post A brand new post, the Philanthropy Executive will work as part of a team of six (five of whom are based in London, one in Scotland). The post-holder will work with the team on the development and delivery of the Philanthropy portfolio; existing donors, Trusts, Foundations, Statutory sources, and wealthy individuals, and in finding and securing new donors. They will work across the team’s functions helping to research new prospects, organise and provide support for events, manage a programme of applications to small trusts (capable of giving up to £4k) and provide general administrative support. The Team The Philanthropy Team is responsible for raising income from new and existing high net worth individuals and institutional (trusts, foundations and statutory) donors to enable delivery of Breast Cancer Care’s Strategy – Facing Breast Cancer Together. This post reports into the Philanthropy Manager. The rest of the team include a the Head of Philanthropy, Prospect Research Manager, a Trusts and Statutory Officer, and another Philanthropy Manager based in Scotland. Main Responsibilities To take a pro-active and creative approach to identifying, developing and exploiting any appropriate philanthropic fundraising opportunities that might provide additional income 1 potential for Breast Cancer Care. To lead the development and delivery of Breast Cancer Care’s Small Trust Programme. Main responsibilities will include producing new applications, co-ordinating, producing and sending mailings, researching new trusts to add to the programme, thanking and stewardship to ensure growth and retention. To offer extensive support for the delivery of existing and new events as required, including management of guests lists, suppliers, communications, database etc. To think proactively about future areas of development within the team to increase support and keep donors engaged. To work with the Philanthropy Research Manager to identify further opportunities and potential funders, conducting your own research. To assist and provide support to senior volunteers to maximise opportunities to raise income. To work closely with colleagues in Finance to ensure all income for the team is dealt with efficiently and effectively and in the most appropriate manner. To provide administrative assistance for the team in relation to HR processes, and finance and database systems. To ensure the highest standards of data capture are maintained, ensuring a complete picture of all donors and prospects, whether individuals, foundations or organisations. This includes – but is not limited to – information on giving history, relationships, contacts, applications submitted etc. General Play an active role within the team to support all aspects of delivering income from philanthropic sources. To be self-servicing of administrative functions. To maintain confidentiality regarding client information at all times. To liaise with relevant staff and outside agencies as requested. The post-holder on occasions will need to travel throughout the UK and to work varying hours where necessary. 2 Person Specification – Philanthropy Executive Knowledge and Experience Excellent organisational and administrative skills. Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills Relevant experience of fundraising and/or sales and marketing in a commercial environment. Educated to degree level or equivalent. Experience of working on a variety of projects and the ability to multitask. Experience in events organising and dealing with suppliers.
