Alumni Spotlight:
Tom Carter ’76, Dave Clohessy ’78, Steve Highfill ’77, Mary Mello ’77 and Lucie (Juneau) Patrowicz ’77
testify to the lasting influence of a Drury experience. Since 1995, these alumni and their families have
vacationed together, reliving old memories and making new ones. The tradition began when the group
met in Boston for Highfill’s birthday. According to Carter, the friends realized how much they missed
each other and decided to create an annual tradition. Throughout the years they have traveled to
Vermont, Connecticut, and Quebec, among others.
“Each trip is better than the last,” says Clohessy. As these classmates watch their children become
better friends, they see their friendship cross geographical and generational boundaries. The families
go on long hikes, play tennis, and reconnect. Arranging schedules is hard, but Clohessy believes the
constant emailing helps the families stay in touch throughout the year. Catching up on the changes and
accomplishments in their lives is a joy for these friends and a testament to the lasting relationships
Drury students cultivate.

Drury Finishes 11th Nationally In NCAA-II Learfield Director's
Cup All-Sports Standings For 2010-11
Drury University Athletics has finished 11th among the 302 NCAA Division II teams in the final
Learfield Directors Cup all-sports standings for the 2010-11 school year released on Friday.
That's the second highest finish for the Panthers in the program's D-II history (since 1994),
trailing only a ninth-place finish in 2006-2007. Drury was 14th last year and has not finished
lower than 31st over the past decade in the competition that awards points for success based
on NCAA-II championships and post-season appearances in the respective sports. To read
