It is expected that an acceptable chapter will comply with all University policies and
maintain proper communications and behavior to support positive and interactive
relationships with the surrounding Greek, University, and local communities. A chapter
should maintain a presence as a “Good Citizen” and strive to instill in its membership a
thorough understanding of the standards of these varying communities as well as an
appreciation for positive relationships.

30 points (15 per semester) 1. The chapter maintains its property in a neat, orderly, safe,
and healthy fashion and respects the desired environment of its neighbors (including but
not limited to upkeep of chapter house property, proper clean up after fraternity/sorority
events, and acceptable noise levels).



Chapters will start with the total point value and points will be deducted for
situations where University officials must remind them to clean chapter property
Non-Compliance of Noise Ordinances and judicial sanctions will also be
counted into this category.
Parties, recruitment functions, or other events must be cleaned up within 6
hours of the event’s conclusion.
Chapters with houses will maintain fire safety standards, City code, and
insurance expectations.

20 points 2. The chapter conducts one large-scale (involving at least 75% of the
chapter) community service/philanthropic project per semester. Please provide a letter
from the organization providing documentation for the community service/philanthropic
project. Philanthropy must follow expectations and guidelines from the Office of
Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Joint Statement Regarding Philanthropy and governing
council.
Joint Statement Regarding Philanthropy
One of the most gratifying aspects of fraternity and sorority life can be the sense of pride that comes with
the involvement in philanthropy events, which help raise money and awareness for local and national
service agencies, and positively portrays the fraternity and sorority system. The Interfraternity and
Panhellnic Councils are responsible for ensuring that such events are consistent with national, University,
and council standards and values.
Chapters cannot host or participate in philanthropy events which include or encourage the following:








Possession, consumption, and/or distribution of alcohol or other drugs before, during, or after the
event
Drunkenness, or being in any other drug-induced state at the event
Bashing, degrading, or any other form of unflattering comments regarding or pertaining to another
sorority or fraternity
Crude or disrespectful behavior, which includes pouring anything on yourself or others,
provocative sexual dancing, stripping, etc.
Provoking or bribing judges with gifts, alcohol, and/or other drugs, and/or sexual behavior
Any act, behavior, or event that can be constructed as “tempting” of a fraternity or sorority, which
includes sending them food, alcohol, drugs, new members, etc.
Inappropriate and/or suggestive clothing (e.g., undergarments being visible)
Damaging/destroying of other’s participants’ decoration.
The chapter shall conducted a large-scale community service/philanthropic project
involving 75% of the chapter.



Use the “Community Service/Philanthropy Definitions and Categories” (See
Appendix B) to determine the type of philanthropy activity your chapter
sponsored.
Complete a community service/philanthropic tracking form (Appendix C) for the
project performed.
While each project per semester requires 75% participation, it is requested that
all projects be reported with the Greek Accreditation submission for accurate
reporting of hours and funds donated by the Greek Community for our Annual
Greek Report.

44 points (22 per semester) 3. The chapter complies with the University policies that
govern its students and fraternities/sororities as outlined in the FASA Community Policies
and Standards, Student Code of Conduct, and Registered Student Organization Policies.

Any chapter found guilty of a judicial infraction other than an alcohol violation or
disruptive conduct charge by the University’s judicial system and/or
IFC/Panhellenic/NPHC/MGC/NALFO Judicial Board will lose 22 points.

Any violation of New York State and Local Law, will lose 44 points.

Any violation of the University’s Alcohol/Drug policy and/or FASA Community
Policies and Standards will result in a 44 point deduction.

15 points 4. The chapter will present or attend at least one program, each semester, from
each category: diversity, risk management, hazing, and scholarship for its members and/or
the entire campus. At least 75% of the chapter members should have attended a program
in each category. Please contact your FASA advisor if you have questions about which
programs apply.

6 points (3 per semester) 5. The chapter is a member of and actively participates in the
IFC, PHC, MGC, NALFO, or NPHC, attending 90% of the meetings and complying with
other criteria for participation as outlined by the organizations.

The IFC Secretary, PHC Secretary, NPHC Secretary, MGC Secretary, and
NALFO Secretary will record attendance at meetings and submit that
information to FASA Staff. You do not need to submit any information for this
item.

6 points 7. The chapter demonstrates an effort to maintain and/or improve alumni
programs designed to keep alumni involved in chapter activities and chapter news.

The chapter will have at least one program per year or activity designed for


