Laona PTO Meeting June 18, 2013 Present: Laurie Asher, Courtney Connor, Beth Calhoun, Claire Krawze, Kim Winkelman, Paula Reeves, Scott Reeves Topics for Discussion: Fundraiser #1 Homecoming Activities Fundraiser #2 Fundraiser #1: Kids Games at Fireman’s 4th of July Celebration Date: Saturday, July 6th Place: Silver Lake Beach Time 1:00 to 3:00 Games to include: o Plinko o Bean Bag Toss o Duck Pond o Fishing o Paddle board o Ring Toss o Face Painting Price of game tickets will be 25 cents each. Depending on how much is spent on prizes we will charge 25 cents for most games, but may charge 50 cents for a couple of the games that will give larger prizes. Prizes to be purchased for Small, Medium and Large winners Will also purchase freeze pops to sell (can use tickets to purchase) Action Items: Kim to follow up with face painter Laurie to gather games from school basement Scott to follow up with fire department to determine what color tickets they use for food and beer to ensure game tickets are not the same color Laurie to purchase tickets for prizes Laurie to purchase prizes. Suggestions to include Dollar Tree items (i.e beach toys, bubbles), bottles of Gatorade, Soda or bottles of Capri Suns (for ring toss) Laurie to provide glow sticks; can be used for prizes. Kim to follow up with Fire Department (Steve Fatla) to inform them we will take care of the games and will ask if they can include in their advertisement a note indicating Kids Games 1:00 to 3:00 by Laona PTO Scott, Paula, Laurie and Jim to set up games at 11:00 Saturday 7/6 prior to the parade Scott, Paula, Laurie and Jim to work the games from 1 to 3 on Saturday. Others will join to help if they are able. ?? Discussed creating signs for games but did not identify an owner Homecoming Activities: 7th through 12th grade classes to compete in decorating homecoming parade floats. o PTO will participate and decorate a float o Will encourage any community/alumni as well as teachers to participate o Will allow students 1 or 2 nights to decorate trailers and/or vehicles (Sunday, Monday or Tuesday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm); class advisors will chaperone. o Parade will be on Wednesday, September 18th at 6:00 pm (prior to Battle of the Classes) o Route: start at T-Bob’s and will go through town and end at the Laona Football field o Prizes: #1 float – class will receive pizza and movie party during the school day. #2 float – class will get root beer floats. After parade will have a cook out at the football field for any students/ parents. o This will be our second fundraiser o Ideas; brat or burger plate (with bag of chips and a bar/dessert) – price TBD. Soda/Water for $1 o Will discuss cook out in more detail at the next meeting. Homecoming dance is in Wabeno this year. For Homecoming game and dance we will have a student bus transport students to the game, to the dance and the back to Laona after the dance. Will have a sign up sheet at the beginning of the school year to see how many would be interested. Action Items: Scott to follow up with the town and police department/county regarding parade. Laurie to follow up with students first two weeks of school to determine interest in student bus to the homecoming game and dance.
