1. Whereas: Ohio University and Vision Ohio espouse the importance of graduate research and creative activity and,
2. Whereas; The present financial situation of the institution has limited funding for many such graduate initiatives and,
3. Whereas; The Ohio University Graduate Student Senate is committed to all possible manners of advocacy for, and support of, graduate education, creative activity and research and,
4. Whereas; The Ohio University History Graduate Student Association has requested supplementary funding in the total of $200.00 (two hundred dollars) to assist with the expenses associated with the honorarium of Jeremi E. Suri, Ph.D., keynote speaker of the Fourth Annual Graduate
History Conference, an interdisciplinary conference to be planned and hosted by members of the OU graduate community, therefore be it
5. Resolved That the Ohio University Graduate Student Senate hereby authorizes the one-time donation of funding in the total of $200.00 (two hundred dollars) to the History Graduate Student
Association to be used specifically for the payment of the honorarium for Jeremi Suri, Ph.D., and, be it further
6. Resolved That a copy of this resolution shall be sent to, but not limited to, Rathindra Bose, Vice President for Research and Creative Activity and Dean of the Graduate College, Dr. Chester Pach, Chair of Graduate Studies for the OU History Department and HGSA Advisor, Dr. Patrick Barr -
Melej, History Chair, Dr. Steven M. Miner, Director of the Contemporary History Institute,
Sebastian Hurtado Torres, Chair of the History Graduate Student Association, Student Senate and the editorial boards of The Post and the Athens News.
