Workshop on the Costs and Impacts of Non Technical Measures to reduce Emissions in the Urban Transport Sector Rome, 24 and 25 January 2000 Since December 1998, the CANTIQUE1 Concerted Action has been reviewing and analysing several dozens studies, projects and experiments focusing on the evaluation of the environmental impact of Non Technical Measures (NTM, i.e. all measures which are not directly related to vehicle and fuel technologies). The scope of the analysis is extremely broad, and includes such measures as Road Pricing, Traffic Calming, Mobility Management, Access Restriction, Land Use Planning, Public Transport Promotion, Behavioural Improvements, etc. The Rome Workshop aims at: presenting the final conclusions of the AUTO OIL II programme presenting the first results of the CANTIQUE work (review and evaluation of the cost effectiveness of NTMs) gathering and discussing additional inputs thanks to some 12 contributions from well-known European experts drawing preliminary conclusions on generalisation and transferability of evaluation mechanisms Topics presented and discussed include: Urban Freight (Environmental Zones, Voluntary Agreements, Truckers Training Schemes, etc.) Passengers Transport (Scrappage schemes, Road Pricing, Traffic Calming, Local Transportation Plans etc.) AUTO OIL and CANTIQUE results. A questionnaire is being drafted based on the Cantique Work in Progress: this will be sent in advance to all registered and answers received will be reviewed and discussed.
