Iowa State Anime Appreciation Club Article I: Name and Relationship Iowa State Anime Appreciation Club, hereafter referred to as ISAAC, is a club based out of Iowa State University. Article II. Purpose and Goals The purpose of ISAAC is to encourage and support Anime, J-Drama, and general interest in Asian culture as a whole. ISAAC abides by and supports established Iowa State University policies, as well as State and Federal laws. Article III. Membership ISAAC membership shall be open to all registered students at Iowa State University. All members must be respectful of other members and follow the rules and regulations proscribed by Iowa State University. There are no due payments required from members. Article IV. Officers and Advisor A. Positions President: The president is in charge of coordinating recruitment events, coordinating events with other organizations, organizing the weekly meetings, and organizing food purchasing. Vice President: The Vice President shall be the president’s successor if a removal or other unplanned event results in the president stepping down or resigning. The Vice President can only serve out the remainder of the President’s term if a majority of the attending members vote to make it so. Otherwise, the Vice President has no roles except those delegated to him/her by the president. Treasurer: The treasurer’s duty shall be to fulfill the requirements of campus accounting. As ISAAC does not maintain finances as an organization, the only responsibility of the treasurer is to maintain compliance with university finance regulations. The treasurer must also make sure that: All monies belonging to this organization shall be deposited and disbursed through a bank account established for this organization at the Campus Organizations Accounting Office and/or approved institution/office (must receive authorization via Campus Organizations Accounting Office). All funds must be deposited within 24 hours after collection. The Adviser to this organization must approve and sign each expenditure before payment. Advisor: The advisor to ISAAC shall be elected for the remainder of their mortal lives. Their duties shall be to provide guidance to the president and to provide information on newly developed areas of interest to the organization. They shall also be responsible for assisting the organization in fulfilling university requirements. B. Elections All officers shall be elected by a simple majority vote of the membership. (Including the Advisor) If no majority is received, the top two candidates for a position shall have a run-off vote and the one with the largest number of votes shall be victorious. Members are only eligible to vote if they have attended four or more meetings during the current semester. All elections shall be held in the last meeting of the Spring Semester. Elected officers will immediately take over their roles upon completion of the election and serve in their positions for a period of one year, or until removal. C. Removal and Replacement Any officer may be removed immediately from office with a 2/3rds vote of the membership. An immediate replacement election, which follows regular election guidelines, will take place if the vote is successful. The President is the only exception in that the Vice President will automatically take over the remainder of his/her term unless a simple majority vote from attending members dictates a new election. If the Vice President does not wish to receive the President position, or the Vice President position is vacant, regular election proceedings will automatically take place. D. Office Requirements All officers must be a member of ISAAC for a minimum of the previous four meetings to be eligible to run for office. All potential officers must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) as stated below and meet that minimum cumulative GPA in the semester immediately prior to the election/appointment, the semester of election/appointment and semesters during the term of office. For undergraduate students, the minimum GPA is 2.00. In order for this provision to be met, at least six hours (half-time credits) must have been taken for the semester under consideration. All potential officers must be in good standing with the university and enrolled: at least half time (six or more credit hours), if an undergraduate student (unless fewer credits are required to graduate in the spring and fall semesters) during the term of office, and at least half time (four or more credits), if a graduate level student (unless fewer credits are required in the final stages of their degree as defined by the Continuous Registration Requirement) during their term of office. Any potential officer who does not meet these requirements will be ineligible to hold an office should the student fail to maintain the requirements as prescribed in section D. Article V. Amendments This constitution may be amended by a simple majority vote of the membership. One of the officers is then responsible for submitting the amended constitution within ten days.
