HENSMAN PARK TENNIS CLUB (INC.)
INFORMATION SHEET 2013 - 2014
Thank you for your enquiry regarding membership of our Club.
Hensman has a proud history going back to 1925. We are one of WA’s leading clubs and believe our success can be related to our
five key strategies:





Variety of membership categories to suit your individual needs
Excellent grass courts, fully lit acrylic courts and club facilities
Organised social tennis on Wednesdays and Saturdays
Excellent program of social events
Subscriptions set at a level that provides you with excellent value for money
Here are some more details of how we operate at Hensman:
ORGANISED SOCIAL TENNIS
A variety of men’s, ladies and mixed doubles sets are organised by the Duty Captains on Saturday afternoons commencing at
approximately 1.30 pm. Mid-week Ladies and Men’s club play is organised on Wednesdays from 9.30 am.
COURTS
The Club has 9 grass and 8 acrylic courts. Grass courts are available to MEMBERS ONLY on weekends, Wednesdays and
Thursdays. Members are to provide their own balls and arrange their own sets outside the organised social tennis times. Some
acrylic courts are available most days to club members free of charge (see Notice Board for further details) and normal hire charges
apply for court usage under lights. Friends or relations hitting with club members must pay their proportion of the hard court hire
fee (i.e. if the court hire fee is $15.00 and there are 2 members and 2 non members playing, the fee will be $7.50).
DRESS
We take a pride in our club and ask that members dress appropriately and wear approved tennis shoes when playing at the Club.
SOCIAL
The Club has a licensed bar which is open from 4 p.m. on Saturday and also on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays following
tennis. Social functions are arranged during the summer tennis season and these are an excellent way to get to know your fellow
members - there could also be some networking opportunities with our membership comprising a wide cross section of interests and
business backgrounds. Our website www.hensmanparktennis.com.au is regularly updated to provide information as is the
blackboard at the Club.
INTER-CLUB LEAGUE COMPETITION
Summer leagues for mid-week and weekend teams commence in October and run through to the middle of March with a break over
the Christmas/early January period. Winter league competitions are played from May through to August. An extra fee is payable to
participate in league teams to cover any extra costs.
JUNIORS
We encourage juniors to participate and, if sufficient numbers, social tennis will be conducted throughout the season and will cater
for children of all ages. Other junior development programs are also arranged from time to time. Players in this group are
encouraged to participate in the Junior Inter-club League competition. Contact Ellen Lynch for details.
COACHING
Mark Leuba (0400 470 189), one of the State’s leading coaches, is our Club Coach and can assist you with your game - he caters for
everyone from beginners to advanced players. Mark looks after the hire of the acrylic courts some of which are available to members
during the day and for a small hire fee members can hire the courts on evenings.
