Media Release December XX, 2000 KIDS OFF SCHOOL – REMEMBER THE DRAIN IS JUST FOR RAIN “Let the fish have a holiday from stormwater pollution while you are on holiday from school” said XYZ’s Mayor, Cr……. to local children today. XYZ’s younger generation has been asked by XYZ’s Mayor Cr………, to remember to reduce stormwater pollution during the Christmas Holidays so that they can make the most of our waterways. Cr…….. has been a supporter of the Drain is Just for Rain campaign, not least because reducing stormwater pollution improves the quality of the waterways that XYZ’s residents swim, boat and fish in. XYZ Council recently won a $… grant from the NSW Environment Protection Authority to……………………………………..… ………………………………………………….. ………The grant is part of the State Government’s three-year, $60 million campaign to tackle urban stormwater pollution head-on. Cr …… said, “The best way for XYZ’s children to have a clean and healthy Christmas holiday is to remember that the Drain is Just for Rain, so no pollution ends up in our waterways. “There are plenty of things that we can all do to reduce stormwater pollution so that our waterways are clean, particularly by making sure that litter goes into the bin, not down the drain. “I know that during the holidays we enjoy sweets and ice creams, but if we leave the wrappers to wash down the drain, then the other things that we enjoy, like the beach, rivers and creeks will be polluted.
