Role Overview Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure currently has a career opportunity available in our Phoenix, AZ office for a Junior Level Drainage Engineer. Key Responsibilities Will support Project Managers with drainage engineering and floodplain management work; Will support hydraulics and hydrology modeling efforts; In doing so, will use high-level computer systems and applications to develop practical solutions; Will be required to perform drainage analysis including; hydrologic modeling, hydraulic modeling of channels and/or washes, scour analysis, sediment transport analysis, culvert design, roadway drainage, storm drain hydraulics, retention/detention design, erosion protection design and design of hydraulic structures including weirs , drop structures and energy dissipators; Will prepare technical documents and reports. Will convey results and findings by means of oral discussions, graphic-based presentations, and project documentation. Opportunities at Amec Foster Wheeler Role Requirements BS degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant degree; MS preferred; Possess Engineer-in-Training certification; Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; Ability to work independently (self-directed) with moderate oversight; Ability to work well with others and in a team environment; Experience with the following hydrologic and hydraulic models is desired: HEC 1/HEC HMS/GEO-HMS, HEC 2/HEC RAS, FLO-2D, and HEC-6; Experience with other models such as HY-8, StormCAD, TR-20, SWMM, and WSPRO considered a plus; Experience/familiarity with the following methods is desired: TR-20, TR-55, Rational Method and Modified Rational Method; Proficiency in MSOffice and ability to use ArcView GIS in the preparation of exhibits; Some experience using Bentley MicroStation & InRoads and Autodesk AutoCAD® Civil 3D®, software is a plus; and Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy. Desired Skills / Experience HEC-RAS (Steady, Unsteady, 2D); RiverFLO-2D; DDMS-W; Expertise in the use of GIS for data import, manipulation, review, querying, filtering/screening of results; and 2 – 4 years of experience using hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools to perform drainage studies and designs.
