“Wild About Reading Contest”
Official Rules
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS CONTEST.
MANY WILL ENTER, FEW WILL WIN.
1.
ELIGIBILITY. The Minnesota Wild Hockey Club “Wild About Reading Contest” (the
“Contest”) is only open to Kindergarten to 6th Grade classrooms at Eligible Institutions (as defined below)
within a thirty (30) mile radius of the Xcel Energy Center Arena in St. Paul Minnesota (“Eligible
Classrooms”). For purposes of this Contest, an “Eligible Institution” (“Eligible Classrooms”) is a public or
private educational institution for students in Grade 6 or less. Eligible Classrooms must be entered into the
Contest as provided in these Official Rules by the classroom’s teacher (an “Eligible Teacher”), who, as of
the entry date, must be a legal U.S. resident that is at least twenty-one (21) years old, and who is not an
employee, officer of director with Minnesota Wild Hockey Club LP (“Administrator”), any of their
respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, or be part of the immediate
family (defined as parents, spouses, children, siblings, grandparents, and their respective spouses) or a
member of the same household (whether related or not) of such an employee, officer or director. The
Contest is void outside the State of Minnesota; and where prohibited or restricted by law.
2.
TIMING. The entry period for the Contest begins on November 16, 2009 and ends on December
11, 2009 (the “Entry Period”).
3.
HOW TO ENTER; SUBMISSIONS; COMPLIANCE WITH OFFICIAL RULES AND
DECISIONS.
a.
To participate in the Contest, an Eligible Teacher of an Eligible Classroom at an Eligible
Institution must obtain an Official Entry Form (available online at www.wild.com at the Contest section of
the website), fully complete and sign the Official Entry Form, and submit the Official Entry Form and the
Eligible Classroom’s written cheer (as described below) to Administrator. The Official Entry Form must
also be signed by the Principal (or similar head official) of the Eligible Institution indicating the consent of
the Eligible Institution to the participation of the Eligible Classroom in the Contest, and the Eligible
Institution’s agreement to these Official Rules. LIMIT: One (1) entry per Eligible Classroom.
b.
Entries must be submitted by United States mail by mailing the required materials in a
sealed envelope no larger than 9 1/2" x 4 1/4" (a #10 envelope) with correct postage to “Wild About
Reading Contest – Entry Submission” c/o Minnesota Wild Hockey Club LP, 317 Washington Street, Saint
Paul, Minnesota 55102. All entries, must be received by Administrator during the Entry Period, and none
will be acknowledged or returned.
c.
Each entrant is required to submit with the entrant’s Official Entry Form a written
original cheer combining the topics of reading, school, hockey and the Minnesota Wild. A cheer must be
two hundred fifty (250) words or less. The cheer must not have any identifying information about the
Eligible Institution, Eligible Teacher, the Eligible Classroom or any its students, or their geographic
locations (other than the State of Minnesota).
d.
All submissions in the Contest by an entrant shall be in English, and all components of
such submissions must be the entrant’s own original creation (an original is the product of one’s own mind
and is not a copy or imitation), created solely by entrant. Submissions may not have been published
previously, in whole or in part, or have won any other award. Modifying, enhancing or altering a third
party’s preexisting work does not qualify as an entrant’s original creation. Each submission must be in
keeping with Administrator’s positive image and may not be offensive or inappropriate, as determined by
Administrator in their sole discretion, nor can it defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person,
living or deceased, or entity, or otherwise infringe upon any person’ s or entity’s personal, intellectual
property or property rights or any other third party rights (including, without limitation, copyright and

trademark rights). A submission may not incorporate or include anything that would require the consent of
any third party for the use of the submission by Administrator. Administrator reserves the right, in their
sole discretion, to disqualify any entry Sponsor or Administrator deems, in whole or in part, to be offensive,
inappropriate or that is not in keeping with Administrator’s positive image; such a determination by
Administrator may be made at any time, including, without limitation, based on facts or circumstances
arising before, during or after submission of an entrant’s entry.
e.
Failure to submit all required information and submissions in the manner required in
these Official Rules may result in disqualification. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. Proof of
submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Administrator. Any submission that does not
comply with any aspect of these Official Rules may be rejected by Administrator and the entrant
disqualified.
f.
Each entry and related submissions, including without limitation, all contents, concepts
and ideas embodied therein, become the exclusive property of Administrator, and will not be returned by
Administrator.
g.
By submitting an entry, it is acknowledged that a use of the submitted materials may
include posting of some or all of the entrant’s submission on www.wild.com or on third party websites in
connection with the conduct of the Contest.
h.
By participating in the Contest, each entrant, Eligible Teacher and Eligible Institution
fully and unconditionally agrees to be bound by and accepts these Official Rules and the decisions of
Administrator and its judges (including, without limitation, decisions regarding eligibility of entries, the
selection of winners, and the awarding of prizes), which are final and binding in all respects. All entrants
and entries are subject to verification by Administrator.
4.
JUDGING; SELECTION; NOTIFICATION. The Contest contains two (2) rounds of judging.
a.
In the first round of judging, to be conducted between December 11, 2009 and December
15, 2009, a panel of judges appointed by Administrator will judge and score all eligible entries in
accordance with the judging criteria described below in this Section 4(a) to select the twelve (12) best
cheers from among all eligible entries received by Administrator in this Contest. The Judging Panel will be
comprised of individuals who are experienced in reading, education and/or sports. Such judges will be
individuals selected by Administrator and may also be employees or agents of Administrator. Judges will
evaluate each eligible entry based on the following criteria: Positive and effective message of encouraging
reading (fifty percent (50%)); effective combination of the required cheer topics (thirty percent (30%));
creativity and originality of cheer (ten percent (10%)) and overall quality of the cheer (ten percent (10%)).
In the event of a tie, the tied entrants will be reevaluated against each other by the judging panel based on
the judging criteria above until the tie is broken.
b.
In the second round of judging, to be conducted starting at 12:01 a.m. Central Time
(“CT”) on December 16, 2009 and ending at 11:59 p.m. CT on January 13, 2010, the twelve (12) cheers
selected by the judging panel will be posted at www.wild.com on the Contest section of the website for
voting as described below for the voters’ favorite cheers (the “Finalist Voting”). Postings will be “blind”,
meaning that only the cheer will be submitted without any identifying information about Eligible
Institutions, Eligible Teachers, Eligible Classrooms or any their students, or their geographic locations
(other than the State of Minnesota). Each visitor to www.wild.com to the Contest section of the website
will be permitted to cast their votes for his/her favorite cheer. Go to www.wild.com to the Contest section
of the website and follow the links and instructions for viewing cheers, voting and submitting a vote. There
is no limit on the number of times a visitor may vote. Eligible Classroom members and Eligible Teachers
may vote for their own cheer. All votes must be received by 11:59 p.m. CT on January 13, 2009. Any
attempt to vote other than as described above shall be null and void. The Eligible Classrooms who
submitted the two (2) cheers that receive the most votes (cast by voters in accordance with these Official
Rules) will be the potential Hat Trick Prize winners, and the remaining ten (10) Eligible Classrooms who

submitted the remaining ten (10) cheers will be the potential Goal Prize winners. Ties, if any, will be
resolved by the judging panel using the same criteria as set forth in Section 4(a) above.
c.
Potential prize winners in this Contest will be announced on or about January 18, 2010.
Potential prize winners will be notified by Administrator by a telephone call to the Eligible Teacher who
submitted the entrant’s entry. If the Eligible Teacher is not present at the time of the notification call and a
telephone message can be left by Administrator at that time, he/she will have forty-eight (48) hours to
return Administrator’s call. If a telephone message cannot be left by Administrator at the Eligible
Teacher’s phone number when Administrator places the notification call, if the Eligible Teacher does not
return the notification call within forty-eight (48) hours of Administrator’s first attempt to contact the
Eligible Teacher by telephone, if the Eligible Classroom, Eligible Teacher or Eligible Institution is found to
be ineligible, or if the Eligible Classroom or its members (or their parents or legal guardians), the Eligible
Teacher or the Eligible Institution does not comply with the Official Rules, then the potential prize winner
may be disqualified from the Contest and an alternate potential winner selected by Administrator in its
place, which alternate shall be the entrant who would have been the prize winner if the disqualified
potential winner was not considered in this Contest. In such event, an the Eligible Teacher for the alternate
potential winner will be notified by Administrator by telephone as described above; however,
Administrator, in their sole discretion, may adjust the above timing and delivery requirements to
accommodate Administrator’s Contest schedule, and due to such schedule and timing, Administrator may
be unable to name or accommodate an alternate winner with respect to the disqualified entrant.
Administrator is not responsible for the failure of the Eligible Teacher of a potential winning Eligible
Classroom to receive Administrator’s telephone message, or for the inability of such Eligible Teacher to
return Administrator’s telephone message for any reason.
d.
All Eligible Teachers, Eligible Classrooms and students (and his/her parent or legal
guardian, if applicable) and Eligible Institutions must comply with all terms and conditions of these
Official Rules, and participation in a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements.
5.
PRIZES. Subject to the terms and conditions of these Official Rules, in this Contest, twelve (12)
total prizes will be awarded with a total aggregate approximate retail value (“ARV”) of $1,000.
a.
A maximum of two (2) Hat Trick Prizes will be awarded in this Contest. The ARV of
each Hat Trick Prize is $500. Actual ARV may be less depending on the number of Eligible Classroom
participants in the prize, and any difference will not be awarded in cash. LIMIT: Thirty (30)
participants/chaperones. A Hat Trick Prize consists of and is limited to: (i) opportunity to have a
Minnesota Wild player (as determined by Administrator) read to attending tour participants, and (ii) tour of
and lunch at the Xcel Energy Center Arena (including the opportunity to watch part of a Minnesota Wild
practice). Transportation to and from event is responsibility of winning Eligible Classrooms. Should the
Eligible Classroom be unable to redeem Hat Trick Prize, the Wild will make a school supply donation to
each student in the winning classroom. Each individual attending in the Hat Trick Prize must execute and
deliver a form of Liability and Publicity Release to Administrator before being permitted to participate in
the prize experience (which form must be executed by such individual’s parent or legal guardian if such
attendee is under eighteen (18) years old). Each Hat Trick Prize shall take place on a mutually agreeable
date, and shall be completed no later than April 10, 2009.
b.
A maximum of ten (10) Goal Line Prizes will be awarded in this Contest. The ARV of
each Goal Line Prize is $0. A Goal Line Prize consists of and is limited to the opportunity to have a
Minnesota Wild player’s wife or a Minnesota Wild staff member (as determined by Administrator) travel to
the Eligible Classroom and read to its students. Each Goal Line Prize shall take place on a mutually
agreeable date, and shall be completed no later than April 10, 2009.
c.
No cash or other substitution besides those noted above may be made for a prize or
component thereof, except by Administrator, who reserve the right (but have no obligation) to substitute a
prize (or a component thereof) with another prize (or component thereof, including cash) of equal or greater
value if the prize is not available for any reason as determined by Administrator in their sole discretion.
The Eligible Institution of the winning Eligible Classroom is fully responsible for any and all applicable

federal, state, international and local taxes and assessments. All costs and expenses not expressly specified
herein, related to a prize or the use thereof, including but not limited to lodging, transportation costs, meals,
taxes, gratuities, insurance, surcharges and other expenses incurred by accepting and using the prize are the
sole responsibility of such Eligible Institution. Unused components of the Prize shall be forfeited and have
no redeemable cash value.
6.
PUBLICITY. Except where prohibited by law, participation in the Contest constitutes the
Eligible Classroom’s and the Eligible Institution’s consent to Administrator’s (and their respective
successors’, designees’ and assigns’) use of the Eligible Classroom’s and Eligible Institution’s name,
biography, likeness, voice, photographs, video, opinions, hometown, state and country for promotional
purposes in any manner or media (including, without limitation, online), worldwide, in perpetuity, and
without further payment, consideration or consent.
7.
GENERAL CONDITIONS. Administrator reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to
terminate, modify or suspend the Contest if, in their opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of
electronic or non-electronic tampering with any portion of the Contest, or if viruses, bugs, unauthorized
intervention, fraud, technical difficulties or failures or any other factor beyond their reasonable control
corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest. In such
event, Administrator reserves the right (but do not have the obligation) in their sole discretion to award the
prizes based on the above judging criteria from among eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time
of suspected impairment. Administrator reserves the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any
individual they find to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in
violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person
to deliberately damage any Web site or undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of
criminal and civil laws, and, should such an attempt be made, Administrator reserves the right to seek
damages and other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Administrator’s
failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
8.
RELEASE. Each Eligible Teacher, Eligible Classroom and its students, and Eligible Institution,
participating in this Contest forever and irrevocably releases and holds harmless Sponsor, Administrator,
and their respective parents, subsidiaries and affiliates, and their respective agents, advertising and
promotion agencies, affiliates, Contest partners and prize suppliers, and all of their respective employees,
officers, directors, shareholders, members, managers and agents from and against all claims, damages or
liabilities arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation and/or entry in the Contest
and/or the award, receipt or use of any prize awarded in the Contest.
9.
LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY. Administrator is not responsible for: (a) incorrect or
inaccurate transcription of entry information or late, lost, undelivered, stolen, unintelligible, illegible,
damaged, mutilated, altered, incomplete, misdirected entries or entries received through impermissible or
illegitimate channels, all of which will be disqualified; (b) technical failures of any kind, including but not
limited to the malfunctioning of any telephone, computer online systems, computer equipment, Web site,
server provider, network, hardware or software; (c) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any website or
service; (d) unauthorized intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; (e) printing,
typographical, electronic or human errors which may occur in the offer or administration of the Contest or
the processing of entries; or (f) any injury or damage to persons or property, including but not limited to
entrant’s computer, which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s
participation in the Contest, or from viewing, playing or downloading any material from Administrator’s
web site(s), regardless of whether the material was prepared by a third party, and regardless of whether the
material is connected to Administrator’s web site by a hypertext link.
10.
DISPUTES. (a) Any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected
with this Contest, or any prizes awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class
action, and solely and exclusively in a federal or state court located in Minneapolis, Minnesota; all parties
submit to sole and exclusive personal jurisdiction to said courts in the State of Minnesota for any such
dispute and irrevocably waives any and all rights to object to such jurisdiction; (b) any and all claims,
judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out of pocket costs incurred, including costs associated

with entering this Contest but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (c) under no circumstances will any party be
permitted to obtain awards for and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and
consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and
all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW
THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL
DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. All issues and questions concerning the
construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations
any participant, Administrator in connection with the Contest shall be governed by, and construed in
accordance with, the laws of the State of Minnesota, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict
of law rules of provisions (whether of the State of Minnesota, the United States, or any other jurisdiction),
which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Minnesota.
11.
OFFICIAL RULES. These Official Rules are available at www.wild.com at the Contest section
of the website, or by sending a self-addressed postage-stamped envelope to “Wild About Reading Contest –
Rules Request”, c/o Minnesota Wild Hockey Club LP, 317 Washington Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota
55102.
12.
WINNER’S LIST. To request a list of winners, send a self-addressed postage-stamped envelope
to “Wild About Reading Contest – Winner’s List Request”, c/o Minnesota Wild Hockey Club LP, 317
Washington Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55102. Requests must be received by April 1, 2009.
13.
CONTEST ADMINISTRATOR. The Contest is being administered by Minnesota Wild Hockey
Club LP, 317 Washington Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55102.
