Notice of change will be given in subsequent editions of these Regulations. Students should enquire as to the up-to-date position when they need to know this. Industry-based projects require the appointment of an approved industrial supervisor in additional to an academic supervisor. All project work will be double marked. 2.4 Subject to the approval of the Design School, candidates may work on the project concurrently with the undertaking of taught modules. 2.5 Normally an MA will be awarded on the Industrial Design and User-centred Product Design routes. However, if a candidate wishes to gain an MSc they must take one of the following elective modules: DSP854 Electronic Product Design DSP855 Advanced CAD Techniques And complete a Major Project that is largely analytical in nature. Normally an MSc will be awarded on the Sustainable Product Design, Virtual Product Design and Product Design in Business routes. However, if a candidate wishes to gain an MA they must take one of the following elective modules: DSP852 Design Communication Skills DSP853 Inclusive Design And complete a Major Project that is largely creative in nature. 2.6 Where a candidate does not successfully complete the major design project, they may be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) on successful completion of an extra 20 credits worth of approved taught modules. A candidate who fails to complete the taught section of the programme but who has successfully completed at least 60 credits worth of taught modules may be awarded a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert). * DSPT01-DSPT09 (was CDPT17-CDPT25) 3. ASSESSMENT 3.1 All taught modules provided by the Design School will be assessed on the basis of coursework. Modules from other departments may be assessed by examination, coursework or a combination of both. 3.2 In accordance with Regulation XXI, candidates who have the right of re-assessment in a module will be offered an opportunity to be re-assessed in a special re-assessment period. *
