Report on Pollution Control Implementation in Cement Industry Foreword The Central Pollution Control Board plan~ed nationwide implementation programme of particulate emission standards in the cement industry after the emission standards for particulate matter were developed. In the year 1986 the Central Board constituted a National and four Zonal task Forces with the objective of providing impetus to pollution control through action-oriented time-bound programme. Status of implementation of P911ution control measures and the recommendations of the National Task Force with regard to follow-up action against the calcitrant units under the provision of the Air Amended Act, 1987 have been reported in this report. The National Task Forces held eight meetings since its formation and also visited a number of cement plants. Due to the persuasion and pressure built-up by the National and Zonal Task Forces and the concerned State Boards, out of 94 major. cement plants, 61 have by now installed the necessary pollution control equipments and comply with the emission standards and 22 have provided time-bound programme for meeting emission standards. The services rendered by the members and Chairman of National Task Force for completing the task successfully is acknowledged. The report will be useful for regulatory agency as well as those involved in pollution control research activities. Nilay Chaudhuri Chairman,CPCB
