The De Montfort Medical Waste Incinerator These incinerators have been the subject of continuous development since 1995 and there are large numbers of slightly different designs in use world wide. The current recommended designs are the Mark 8a which burns waste at about 12kg/h and is used for disposing of waste from hospitals of up to about 300 beds, and the Mark 9 which burns waste at about 50kg/h and is used for disposing of waste from larger hospitals. Both are the same in principle as the earlier models having a primary and secondary combustion chamber and requiring no electric power. They have been developed to be cheaper and easier to build than earlier models as well as being more robust in use. Details of their construction, operation and performance can be found on the website www.mw-incinerator.info Mark 8a incinerator
