Peer Technical Advisor Opportunity Improving Local Health Department (LHD) Adolescent HIV, STI and/or Unintended Pregnancy Prevention Programs Request for Applications *** Deadline Extended—Now Due October 29, 2008*** The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) is developing a network of local health department (LHD) peer technical advisors to provide technical assistance to local health departments (LHDs), in order to improve their capacity to develop or enhance HIV, STI and/or unintended pregnancy prevention programs. This opportunity will allow peer technical advisors to share their expertise, experience, and knowledge with other LHDs interested in establishing or improving similar programs. NACCHO will select up to ten LHDs from the applications submitted. The LHDs selected will be designated as NACCHO peer technical advisors, and will be responsible for providing either one conference call session or one in-person technical assistance session to another LHD. Eligibility Be a dues-paying member of NACCHO. To determine if your LHD is a dues-paying member, visit http://www.naccho.org/about/lhd/. Work collaboratively with NACCHO and peer technical assistance recipients. Agree to fulfill all expectations for participation. Expectations Successful applicants must agree to: Provide one in-person technical assistance visit and/or one technical assistance conference call per calendar year. Complete a brief evaluation following the peer technical assistance exchange. Benefits of Participation A scholarship to an HIV, STI or adolescent health conference for each in-person technical assistance visit provided. Up to $250 in reimbursement for technical assistance-related expenses (photocopying, printing, conference or training registration, supplies, etc). A personalized plaque indicating the achievement of the LHD staff as a NACCHO peer technical advisor. A letter of recognition sent to the state health department, supervisors, funders, and/or community.
