NZQA Expiring unit standard 7501version 7 Page 1 of 3 Title Apply plane geometry and produce development constructions in graphic communication Level 1 Credits 4 Purpose People credited with this unit standard are able to: select plane geometry methods for drawing; apply plane geometry construction to drawing; and produce true shape development of geometrical solids. Classification Design > Design - Graphic Communication Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 This unit standard may be used to award credit for the achievement of learning outcomes consistent with Technology in the New Zealand Curriculum (Learning Media Wellington, 1995). 2 In the process of attaining this unit standard, evidence could be generated from more than one drawing. 3 In the process of attaining this unit standard, learners are expected to use constructions for the following: bisection of lines and angles, angles (multiples of 15 degrees), tangents and regular polygons; parallel and radial line development of right prisms, pyramids and cones. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Select plane geometry methods for drawing. Evidence requirements 1.1 Problems in the drawings which need geometrical constructions are identified. 1.2 Geometrical construction methods identified and selected enable the problems to be solved. Outcome 2 Apply plane geometry construction to drawing. NZQA National Qualifications Services SSB Code 130301 New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 NZQA Expiring unit standard 7501version 7 Page 2 of 3 Evidence requirements 2.1 Application of construction provides solution in accordance with drawing requirements. Outcome 3 Produce true shape development of geometrical solids. Range right prisms, pyramids and cones with inclined cutting plane. Evidence requirements 3.1 Construction of views of geometrical solids meets development requirements in terms of the identified problem. 3.2 Construction of auxiliary views meets development requirements of the problem and includes stretchout lines, true length diagrams, and true shape first auxiliary views. 3.3 Construction of true shape development meets design requirements in terms of accuracy, scale, and type of construction used. Requirements for consent to assess and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR).
