Credit Recovery
1. 9 th grade students can enter the Lift Lab at the beginning of 2 nd semester
2. Courses taken in the Lift Lab will appear different on transcript and replace previous grade for GPA calculation
3. Courses completed will receive no better than a “B”- 80%
4. Cannot earn more than five (5) total credits in Lift Lab
Can earn one (1) credit per core area (4 total credits)
Can earn one (1) credit in elective area (1 credit)
Only one (1) attempt per subject area
5. Electives offered in the Lift Lab (The following courses can be taken if a student receives an
“F” in the corresponding areas.)
Health
Psychology – electives in Social Studies or Business
Art Appreciation – electives in Fine Arts/Family and Consumer Sciences, Industrial
Education or Information Technology
(All are semester courses)
6. Criteria
Student must have a full schedule while enrolled in Lift Lab o One period of Lift Lab could complete the schedule
Student must have received an “F” in the course to be taken for recovery, except for electives, as determined in #5
Student entering from outside the district needing a course that was not a requirement in a previous district
Student must be below credits required for their cohort year
Parents must sign a form approving courses before student is enrolled

Science – Biology, Investigative Science
Social Studies – World History, American/Arizona History, Government, Economics
Electives – Health, Art Appreciation, Psychology

Grade Replacement
Course taken must have been previously completed and awarded a passing grade
Must complete all lessons contained in course (student cannot skip over sections)
Student must pay for course - $75
Scholarships may be available
Course must be taken outside of the school day (school day=6 periods or equivalent)
Student must sit for final proctored by staff – test to be developed by site
Final exam is a percentage of the final grade (ex. Course work 80% and Final 20%)
Cannot earn more than five (5) total credits for grade replacement o Can earn one (1) credit per core area (4 total credits) o Can earn one (1) credit in elective area (1 credit) o Only one (1) attempt per subject area

Must take Benchmarks for progress monitoring
