Do you have any scholarships?
The University offers competitive scholarships for overseas fee paying students who are joining Masters
programmes in September 2010. A total of five full tuition fee waiver scholarships will be awarded. Two full
scholarships will be open to all international (non-EU) students. Three additional full scholarships are available; one
each will be awarded to the most able students from the Americas, Asia, and Africa. Candidates will be required to
complete a scholarship application form, including the submission of an essay on a given topic.
We also offer a £1,000 annual scholarship to all international students (both undergraduate and postgraduate).
The scholarship is awarded for each year that you are enrolled and is to be applied to tuition fees only.

What course should I study at YSJU to improve my level of English?
The general English language entry requirements to Bachelors and Masters programmes for students whose first
language is not English are normally as follows:

IELTS - 6.0 overall, with at least a 5.5 in listening and reading and 5.0 in speaking and writing

TOEFL (paper-based) - 550

TOEFL iBT - 79

Foundation Year
A GCSE or iGCSE in English (minimum ‘C’ grade) can be accepted instead of IELTS or TOEFL.
We also accept Cambridge FCE for entry onto the 4-year degree programmes, and Cambridge CAE or CPE for
entry onto the 3-year and Masters degree programmes. Other English proficiency qualifications may be accepted;
please enquire for details.
Even if you have done your schooling in English, it is often advisable to take an official English language
proficiency test to support your visa application if English is not your first language. For more information on our
