POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR, PRESENTING ORGANISATIONS & INITIATIVES AGENCY: Department of the Premier and Cabinet CLASS: SAES1 DIVISION: Arts SA POSITION NUMBER: REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Arts SA POSITIONS REPORTING TO THIS POSITION: Principal Adviser, Presenting Organisations & Initiatives; Senior Industry & Research Officer; Senior Industry Officer; Manager, Public Art & Design; Program Administration/Assistant PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: Develop and deliver strategic policy, initiatives, partnerships and advice across the South Australian arts and cultural portfolio Oversee SA’s major “presenting” organisations (Adelaide Festival Centre Trust, Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Country Arts SA, SA Youth Arts Board, SA Film Corporation, Adelaide Film Festival) and a number of important programs such as Public Art and Design, Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM), Community Arts Development Fund (CADF), and Richard Llewellyn Arts & Disability Trust (RLADT) KEY OUTCOMES: 6. Provide strategic advice and briefings to Ministers and senior executives. 1. Implement effective, innovate arts and cultural programs and initiatives in accordance with the Government’s policy objectives and priorities, led by SA’s Strategic Plan and specific arts strategic directions. 7. Steer relationships with key bodies such as the Australia Council, to maximise outcomes for South Australian artists and arts and cultural organisations. 2. Lead the effective growth and delivery of a number of cross-Government initiatives including ARTSsmart arts and education strategy and the arts and health projects. 8. Lead bids and secure partnerships to bring significant events and programs to South Australia, and ensure their effective operation within budget. 3. Respond to major policy commitments from Government by establishing new funded initiatives as required (e.g. SA Regional Centre of Culture). 9. Lead and development and delivery of key Arts SA initiatives and programs including: Policy and Research program, Art for Public Places, Community Arts Development Fund, and Richard Llewellyn Arts and Disability Trust. 4. Identify key issues for the arts and arts practice in South Australia and nationally to meet the demographic needs and preferences of the broader community. 10. Manage the State’s inter-governmental relations role in the Cultural Ministers’ Council, influencing its policy agenda and steering SA’s contribution to its many projects. 5. Oversee governance, financial and management accountability for the seven major SA Government funded “presenting” organisation allocated to the team, as well as their specific individual needs and initiatives. Further budget of major “presenter” organisations with totals c. $36 million Monitor and review relevant and effective targets for the arts and cultural sectors in the SA Strategic Plan. Monitor and support the integration of the South Australian Film Corporation and the Adelaide Film Festival into the Adelaide Film and Screen Centre and the Glenside Campus through the development of an operating model for the precinct and the implementation of an arts and health strategy for the campus (in partnership with the Department of Health). Address the issue of building future audiences for the arts, meeting the needs of the community, key demographic groups, and removing barriers to participation. Influence the education sector at all levels to build children’s learning in and through the arts, to enhance creativity, build multi-literacies, improve overall engagement and performance, and strengthen SA’s future “creative capital”. Contribute to South Australia’s participation in the Cultural Ministers Council forum. CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES Responsible for: 1.
