ELIGIBILITY POLICIES
A valid SandDollar ID card is required to use the Wellness Center and equipment.
Individuals should be prepared to show their ID each time they enter the facility. The
following sections contain specific policies regarding facility access and program
eligibility.
PRIVILEGES
Participation in the programs offered by the Recreational Sports Department is
voluntary and limited to students, faculty/staff/affiliates/alumni of the University, and
their spouses, and dependents who have purchased memberships.
Recreational Sports reserves the right to request for individual identification at any time.
For sufficient cause, entry may be refused or privileges suspended or revoked to any
individual.
ELIGIBILITY AND FEES
Currently enrolled TAMUCC students who have paid the Recreational Sports fee within
their school fees are automatically eligible to participate in Recreational Sports
programs. Faculty and staff have the opportunity to purchase a membership pass.
Membership passes are also available to spouses, dependents, alumni, retirees and
university affiliates and may be purchased on a semester or annual basis. Payroll
deduction is available for faculty and staff for themselves and their spouses (faculty/staff
person must have a membership in order for their spouse to purchase one).
Students:
All students enrolled in the current semester are eligible to use the facilities and
participate in Recreational Sports programs. Currently enrolled students pay a
Recreational Sports fee at $10 per semester credit hour with a cap of $90 per semester
as part of their tuition and fee package, allowing them access to the facilities. Additional
fees are charged for certain programmed events to offset costs of the program.
Students not enrolled in the summer but pre-registered for classes in the fall are eligible
to purchase a membership pass for the summer ($45 for each session or $90 for whole
summer).
Faculty, Staff, Retirees, and University Affiliates:
Faculty, staff, retirees, and university affiliates (Bank, Food Services, Camden TAMUS,
and NRC occupants) may purchase a Recreational Sports membership pass. They
have access to all facilities and may participate in scheduled activities. The cost is $90
semester/ $270 annually (purchased in fall semester only), which is indexed from the
student rate. Program passes can be obtained at the Wellness Center. The department
accepts cash, check, or SandDollar payments. Credit cards may be used for payment at
the Student Services Building (Round Building). Additional fees are charged for certain
programmed events to offset costs of the program.
Adjuncts
Adjunct instructors are eligible to purchase a membership pass only during the
semester in which they are under contract with the University. Adjuncts are not eligible
to purchase an annual pass.
Alumni
Alumni may purchase a membership pass. The fee is $180 per semester. Alumni must
show proof of graduation to purchase a membership pass.
Spouses or Significant Other:
Spouses of eligible users must purchase a membership pass to use facilities. The
eligible user (faculty/staff, student or alumni member) must first purchase their own pass
in order for the spouse to be eligible for a pass. The spouse membership pass is the
same cost as that of their sponsor. Spouses must obtain a SandDollar ID card at the
University Center and present it upon entering the facility. An additional charge will be
assessed by the SandDollar office to obtain an ID card.
Children (17 & under):
Children are admitted at no charge. They must be accompanied by the eligible user/
legal guardian at all times. Children are not allowed in the machine weight area, free
weight area, or cardiovascular area located in the Wellness Center. Participation in a
group fitness class, while the child waits in the fitness room or other part of the facility is
not permitted. Children may participate in table tennis or basketball as long as their
guardian is with them at all times. Also, children may participate on the hike/bike trail,
swimming pool, and multipurpose fields.
Senior Dependants (18-25 years):
Senior dependants must purchase a membership pass in order to gain access to the
facilities at any time. The eligible user (faculty/staff member, student/alumni) must first
purchase their own pass in order for the Sr. Dependant to be eligible for a pass. The
Sr. Dependant must obtain a SandDollar ID card at the UC and present it upon entering
the facility. An additional charge will be assessed by the SandDollar Office to obtain an
ID card.
Alumni, Dependents, and Spouses who have purchased a membership pass have
access to facilities and are eligible to participate in group fitness classes. They
are not eligible to participate in most other scheduled activities. Occasionally,
special events will be open to alumni, dependent, guests, and spouses.
Information on these events will be available at the Recreational Sports Office.
A Waiver of Liability form must be completed for all participants other than
currently enrolled students or current faculty/staff of the university. This form
must be completed prior to any participation or use of facilities.
General Membership Pass Dates
The following list represents general ranges when membership passes are in effect.
Specific dates are based on the academic calendar for that school year.

Student, Faculty/Staff and membership pass holder SandDollar ID’s are not
transferable. Violation of this policy may result in confiscation of the card, suspension of
recreation privileges, and/or further disciplinary action by the University.

GUEST POLICY
Each enrolled student and individuals who have purchased a membership pass are
allowed to sponsor up to 3 guests per visit. In addition, faculty and staff who do not
have a program pass, may purchase a guest pass for their personal use. Day Guest
Passes may be purchased in the Recreational Sports main office during working hours.
The Welcome desk will sell passes after regular business hours. All guests must check
in with the welcome desk or the pool prior to participation.
1.
Cost of guest pass for student members is $5.00/day or, 5 days for
$10.00 for all facilities; $2/day for the pool only. Student must
sponsor the guest and stay with the guest for the entire visit.
2.
Faculty/Staff may purchase a guest pass for themselves with no
sponsor needed at the $5.00/day or 5/$10.00 rate.
3.
Alumni may purchase a guest pass for themselves with no sponsor
needed at a rate of $5.00/day or 5 days for $20.00.
4.
Sponsor must present their current SandDollar ID to purchase a guest
pass or punch card pass for their guest. Membership pass holders
other than faculty/staff and students are not eligible to sponsor guests.
5.
Up to 3 guests may be sponsored at a time.
6.
Guests must sign waiver of liability log upon entry of facility.
7.
Sponsor agrees to participate in the same activity area as the guest.
The host is responsible for their guest’s actions, and will be held
financially responsible for any damage the guest causes.
8.
Guest agrees to adhere to all building policies, regulations, and verbal
instructions given by Recreational Sports staff.
9.
Passes are non-transferable and non-refundable.
10.
Guests of minor age (17 and under) may only participate in
accordance with applicable restrictions applying to youth.
11.
Guests may not check out equipment directly. Sponsors must check
out equipment when participating in any activity.
12.
Those individuals soliciting sponsorship will be refused entry.
13.
The Recreational Sports Department cannot be responsible for lost or
stolen property or injuries sustained while participating.
