General Information regarding criteria of acceptance to the Arts Advantage Program
The Arts Advantage Program will not require an official audition for grade 8 students who want to apply in
grade 9. However all students interested in applying to Downsview Secondary School - Arts Advantage Program
for grade 9, must have succeeded academically in grade 8 and must have demonstrated a strong interest and
experience in the Arts during their stay at their elementary school or outside the school system. Both
academic results and art performance will have to be verified by the grade 8 teacher and/or by teachers
providing lessons, workshops and/or professional training in various aspects of the performing arts and/or
visual arts. To help the teacher with that task Downsview Secondary School - Arts Advantage Program has
prepared a “Student Arts Profile” to be completed by the designated teacher who is the most able to give
accurate information about the students’ overall arts skills.
Visual, Media and Performing Arts Experience: Please check all that apply and indicate the number of years of
experience and or demonstrated interest.
