OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
Major Responsibilities
The chapter president:
1. Executes the policies and decisions of the chapter board
2. Develops annual and long-range chapter goals and objectives for presentation to and approval
by the chapter board
3. Presides over all meetings of the chapter board
4. Organizes chapter structure
5. Directs chapter activities and establishes a chapter calendar, including target dates for task
completion
6. Communicates chapter information and concerns to ISACA International Headquarters
7. Attends meetings sponsored by ISACA International Headquarters as chapter representative
8. Appoints committee members, as authorized by the chapter board
9. Works with other chapter officers to identify potential new members and volunteers
10. Works with the treasurer to develop budget
11. Oversees turnover procedures
13. Completes and submits the chapter annual report within 30 days after the chapter’s AGM
14. Submits an audit report or verification letter confirming that the chapter financials were
reviewed by an impartial third party (i.e., someone not on the chapter board)
OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT
Major Responsibilities
The chapter vice president:
1. Assumes the duties of president when the president is absent
2. Assists the president in establishing committees
3. Directs and coordinates the administrative activities of standing and select committees
4. Reports committee activities for standing and select committees
5. Reviews and updates all position descriptions and performance standards
6. Ensures there are no obsolete, inadequate or incorrect descriptions or unrealistic standards
7. Assists the president and treasurer in the preparation of the chapter budget
8. Establishes and maintains relationships with other professional associations
9. Attends internationally sponsored meetings for chapter leaders as president-elect or as
designated by the current chapter president
OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY
Major Responsibilities
The chapter secretary:
1. Acts as parliamentarian for all board and chapter meetings
2. Calls the roll and records attendance at all board meetings
3. Keeps written minutes of all chapter board meetings and reads minutes of previous board
meetings to membership, as necessary
4. Maintains all chapter records, except those specifically assigned to other officers or
committees.
5. Maintains current-year working file for the chapter
6. Presides over board and chapter meetings in the absence of the president or vice president
8. Issues meeting notices for all chapter board, and other, meetings
9. Conducts all chapter correspondence, except that specifically assigned to other officers
10. Works with the chapter membership director and/or committee to maintain record of all
officers, board members and general membership
OFFICE OF THE TREASURER
Major Responsibilities
The chapter treasurer:
1) Maintains a balanced financial record consisting of the following:
a) General ledger
e) Financial correspondence
b) Checkbook
f) Canceled checks (if applicable)
c) Savings account records
g) Deposit slips
d) Monthly treasurer’s reports h) Bills receipted and outstanding
2) Follows the financial procedures and guidelines as described in this Chapter Administration
Manual
3) Ensures a complete, clear, balanced audit trail of all chapter financial transactions for the
current and prior years
4) Collects all funds owed to the chapter
5) Recommends fee schedules to chapter board
6) Collects fees for monthly meetings and other chapter activities
7) Purchases and/or authorizes the purchase of supplies
8) Ensures the availability of supplies, gifts or equipment
9) Maintains an inventory of physical equipment owned by the chapter, if applicable
10) Prepares a regular treasurer’s report for board meetings and the newsletter to ensure that the
board and the membership know the financial position of the chapter at all times
11) Arranges for insurance, as deemed necessary by the board, and provides recommendations
regarding coverage amounts
12) Recommends an investment strategy for chapter’s reserve funds
15) Organizes annual audit of chapter finances and activities for previous year
16) Assists president with preparation of the annual budget
MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR/MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Major Responsibilities
The chapter membership director/membership committee:
1. Conducts an annual membership campaign
2. Contacts public accounting firms, banks, government agencies, universities, private industry
and media to introduce the association to potential members
3. Contacts meeting visitors and encourages membership in ISACA
4. Forwards membership applications and informational materials to visitors
5. Contacts nonrenewing members to determine reasons for discontinuing membership
6. Attempts to persuade individuals to renew membership
7. Maintains an adequate supply of current ISACA membership application forms, brochures and
other related material necessary to solicit new members
8. Advises chapter membership of all new members in chapter newsletter
9. Works with secretary to enroll new members by forwarding applications and dues to ISACA
International Headquarters
10. Ensures that membership records are accurate
11. Responds to correspondence regarding membership
12. Supports joint meetings with local chapters of other professional organizations
13. Maintains a complete and orderly file of profiles of chapter officers, past and current
14. Works with education and program committees on an annual survey to identify membership
needs and to improve attendance
15. Develops and implements a chapter membership award program for the chapter year
16. Develops and implements a special recognition program for members who have excellent
meeting attendance and recognizes those members at the annual meeting or at other events
17. Increases chapter awareness and appreciation of awards by publicizing the recognition
program in the chapter newsletter on a regular basis (i.e., quarterly)
18. Maintains records of all annual and special awards presented by the chapter
19. Maintains log of awards received by chapter from ISACA International Headquarters and
publicizes receipt of awards to the chapter membership
CERTIFICATION COORDINATOR
Major Responsibilities
The chapter certification coordinator:
1. Knows and understands the certification program and its policies
2. Assists candidates in preparing for the certification examination
3. Recognizes members who pass the certification exams and/or obtain certifications at a chapter
meeting
4. Promotes certification CPE policy
5. Publicizes the certification programs within and outside the chapter
6. Provides feedback to the education department at ISACA International Headquarters regarding
all certification study materials gathered from trainers or candidates preparing for the exam with
the purpose of enhancing future editions of the publications
EDUCATION & PROGRAMS CHAIR/EDUCATION & PROGRAMS COMMITTEE
In general, the education chair or committee is responsible for coordinating educational
programs held in conjunction with chapter meetings as well as the larger seminars/workshops.
Major Responsibilities
1. Develops monthly topics lists and annual education budget for submission to the chapter board
2. Coordinates education committee activities
3. Develops a seminar or workshop budget and presents it to the chapter board
4. Plans and presents a minimum of four seminars or workshops per year on topics of interest to
the membership
5. Arranges and recommends interesting, informative topics that will contribute to the personal
and professional growth of the membership
6. Identifies speakers or leaders for each meeting
7. Builds a library of program topics, course materials and speakers; polls membership (with the
programs committee and membership director) to determine topics of interest
9. Establishes meeting location(s) for chapter meetings and programs or seminars
10. Processes registration for chapter meetings and programs or seminars
Distributes and collects evaluation forms at appropriate meetings
11. Coordinates with the treasurer to obtain a gift, honorarium or fee for the speaker
12. Sends letter of thanks to the speaker
13. Maintains a record of monthly meetings and attendees.
14. Provides biographical material of all speakers to the newsletter editor for publication in the
chapter newsletter
15. Arranges for printing of seminar programs, tickets and name badges, as required
16. Coordinates taking attendance and ensuring chapter records are updated after each seminar
15. Maintains a record of committee meetings
16. Prepares a summary of seminar/workshop activities to provide event highlights to members
who could not attend the session
17. Presents the results of seminars and workshops in the chapter newsletter and sends
summaries of especially good gatherings to the membership department (chapters@isaca.org) at
ISACA International Headquarters for use in Global Communiqué
RESEARCH, FUNDING AND ACADEMIC RELATIONS LIAISON
Major Responsibilities
1. Acts as the chapter’s primary contact with ITGI
2. Publicizes ITGI research activities
3. Coordinates fundraising efforts
4. Organizes at least one fundraising activity each year with a specific percentage of
program/seminar revenue to be donated to ITGI
5. Acts as liaison to local colleges and universities and/or the university’s academic advocate
6. Creates relationships with university and college contacts
a. Arranges meetings with appropriate professors, including those in accounting, computer
science, business, information systems, management, etc.
b. Meets with accounting and/or information systems student groups
7. Contacts professors and instructors to promote ISACA and ITGI and forwards contact
information to the director of academic relations (research@isaca.org)
8. Uses materials provided by the director of academic relations in giving presentations to
students and professors on ISACA including the Model Curriculum, CISA, CISM, CGEIT,
COBIT and Val IT
9. Identifies and encourages academic advocates at local colleges and universities. This person is
the liaison at the university for ISACA. Please see the ISACA web site for details on the

NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The Nominating Committee shall:
1. Solicit nominations from the Chapter membership
2. Nominate candidates for offices to be filled at the annual meeting.
3. Ensure that each candidate has consented to serve
4. Report to the membership at the annual general meeting
5. Encourage nominations from the floor prior to the election
