LIFELONG LEARNING PROGRAMME – ERASMUS STUDENT MOBILITY FOR INTERNSHIPS DUTY TO INFORM The Erasmus programme offers students and Doctoral students1 of the University of Trento (that holds an “Extended Erasmus University Charter”) the chance to take part in internships at companies or other organizations in one of the countries participating in the programme. The Erasmus placement enables students to acquire specific skills and a better understanding of the social and economic culture of the host country with the aim to promote the mobility of young workers throughout Europe. By carrying out work experience related to their academic studies, students gain the benefit of acquiring relevant professional skills. Training within the Erasmus placement programme not only involves the acquiring of information on the part of the student but also the exchange of skills from the students to the host organisation. 2 Erasmus students will receive a community contribution for their participation in the internship through the University. Each scholarship holder is covered by an insurance policy against injuries and a liability insurance at the University’s expense. Furthermore, scholarship holders also benefit ordinary INAIL insurance coverage on behalf of the state (among the EU members). The contracts related to insurance coverage for accident and third party liability cover only case of accidents occurring during the training activities. For medical coverage, each trainee must have the European Health Insurance Card - EHIC, or other private insurance models required in the host Country. Before departure, each Erasmus student must have a Training Agreement signed by the student, by the University of Trento and by the host partner. The University of Trento guarantees full recognition of the ECTS credits achieved during the internship or activity recorded in the Diploma Supplement as part of the curricula and planned activities abroad. At the end of the placement participants will obtain the Europass Mobility document, a European certificate which records the professional and transversal skills acquired. 1. Countries taking part in the programme The LLP-Erasmus is open to: - The 26 EU members (Italy excluded) can take part in the programme:Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Holland, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Hungary; - the three member countries of the European Economic Area: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway; - the candidate countries: Turkey and Croatia; 1 2 In this document, when referring to student is also doctoral student, unless otherwise specified. In the case of doctoral student Research within the Erasmus Placement Programme involves not only acquiring knowledge on the part of a doctorate candidate but also a skills exchange with the host institution. This entails concrete interaction between the student and the organisation whose duty it is to record and report on the research undertaken. 1 - Switzerland. - Addressees of the Erasmus internship scholarships undergraduate students master course students specialization course and Masters students Single courses between the undergraduate and the master courses Doctoral students (only for Erasmus Placement Call but not for Erasmus Consortia Placement Call). 2. 3. Criteria for admittance to the organization/body/company When we say host organization/body/company we mean: “any public or private company that carries out economic activity, regardless of its dimensions, juridical status or economic area of activity, including social economy”.3 Companies that can take part are thus: education centres, firms research centres, foundations, Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad and Italian law firms based abroad,4 International Organizations (ONU, Council of Europe, etc.) Associations, higher education institutions (for instance: laboratories, libraries, etc.). Institutions that cannot take part are: organizations that manage European programmes, the European institutions ad bodies (EU Parliament, EU Agencies, EU Central Bank etc.), national Italian diplomatic representatives in the host country (embassies, consulates, cultural institutes etc), branches of companies that have an Italian statute. The University of Trento is committed to compliance with legislation on the Data protection (privacy) with reference to Partners (potential or actual) within the Erasmus placement. 4. Activities that can be carried out abroad Scholarships are only assigned for full-time internships. It is not possible to take: - part-time internships; - didactical activities; - thesis research; - research activities which do not produce a concrete result for the hosting company. It is not possible to do Erasmus Placement activities within a project or programme financed or co-financed by the European Commission in any way. 5. Duration The internship at the host organization must have a minimum duration of 3 months extendable to 12 months and it must be carried out during the academic year of reference (1st June-30th September of the following year). In any case is paid a grant for a training period of less than three months or 90 consecutive days. The average length of the scholarships offered by the University of Trento are 3-4 months. The training period is to be understood as continuous and therefore interruptions cannot be accepted. Any suspension of the Erasmus Placement may be considered eligible as agreed with the company and the university. 3 4 Decision No. 1720/2006/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 November 2006. These organizations are eligible only if "is guaranteed the principle of transnationality" (Circular of the National Agency LLP Italy on April 12, 2010-prot. N. 16352/D9ER), such placement is allowed with a partner where students can acquire know-how different from that they would acquire in your country. 2 6. Community contribution The amount of the Erasmus Placement scholarship is 500.00 Euro per month (not taxable), except for the countries listed in the table below: Country Bulgaria ( BG ) Estonia (EE) Latvia (LV) Lithuania (LT) Poland (PL) Romania (RO) Scholarship 401,00 € 484,00 € 476,00 € 464,00 € 493,00 € 445,00 € Host organisations do not have to pay students or necessarily give them accommodation. Partners are free to offer any benefits or payments to the trainees. Some students may also be recipients of mobility without a scholarship. 7. Calls for scholarship assignment The calls for assigning Erasmus Placement scholarship are published twice a year: - mid September comes out the Erasmus Consortia Placement announcement for mobility between early December and September 30th of the following year; - in December comes out the Erasmus Placement announcement for mobility between March and September 30th of the same year. For example: - in September comes out the Erasmus Consortia Placement announcement a.y. 2012/2013 (for mobilities between December 2012 and 30.09.2013); - in December comes out the Erasmus Placement announcement a.y. 2012/2013 (for mobilities between March 2013 and 30.09.2013). Thus, it is necessary to activate the agreements between the University of Trento and the partners within the month prior to the publication of each notice. 8. For the - Main documents5 implementation of a training following documents are mandatory: Cooperation agreement: agreement between the partner and the University of Trento); Internship contract: financial agreement between the University of Trento and the trainee); Training Agreement with the declaration of quality attached to it: the document signed by the host, the University of Trento and the student establishing the trainee activities ; Documents of monitoring: the trainee must prepare to give an account of the activities and send the University of Trento (one in the middle and one at the end of training); Transcript of Work: the document issued by the partner on the work done by the trainee consistent with the Training Agreement.
