2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR
TUITION AND FEES – Tuition may be paid by the year, semester or in ten equal payments
(August-May) as billed. The first payment is made prior to the beginning of the school year.
There is a five percent discount if the total fee is paid in full on or before the first day of school.
There is a two percent discount if the fee for one semester is paid in full on or before the first day
of the semester. The first tuition payment, as well as registration, computer and activity fees must
be paid before a student may enter class at the beginning of the year. Statements are sent out on
the fifth of each month and are due when rendered. The amount due must be paid by the 20th of
each month to avoid late charges. Accounts with an unpaid balance after the 20th will be assessed
a 1.25% service charge.
A student may be asked to temporarily withdraw from school when an account is more than 60
days in arrears. All final grades, student information and transcripts will be held by the school
until the balance due on the account has been paid. Eighth graders are not permitted to graduate
or take part in their end-of-year activities if the school account is not paid. Students owing an
account to another school will not be admitted to BAS until the account has been paid or
satisfactory arrangements have been made with the previous school.
Additional fees charged include overnight field trips, activity fee, computer fee, eighth grade
graduation fee and junior high academic fee. The testing fee for incoming Kindergarteners is $25
and for all new students in grades 1 – 8 is $50.
ACTIVITY FEE – This is a one-time fee billed in June for returning students and at registration
for new students. Included in this fee are expenses for field trips, student council functions (i.e.,
Thanksgiving Feast, Fall Festival, Spring Picnic) and some other activities.
REGISTRATION FEE – This fee, which is due June 20 for returning students and at
registration for new students, includes textbook rental, student accident insurance, and one
student yearbook. This fee is non-refundable.
COMPUTER FEE – BAS operates a state-of-the-art computer lab under the direction of
SCHOOLTECH. Classes are conducted in each grade by SCHOOLTECH teachers. The
computer lab is also used by students as part of their regular classroom studies. The
computer/technology fee is due in July.
TEXTBOOK RENTAL – BAS follows a textbook rental plan for all grades. The rental is part
of the registration fee. As part of the registration process parents are asked to sign a textbook
rental agreement which states that when textbooks are lost or misused beyond normal wear and
tear the replacement cost of the book will be paid to the school.
REFUND – If a student withdraws during the first calendar week after beginning school, a full
refund of tuition will be given. A 50% refund of tuition will be given if a student withdraws
during the second calendar week after beginning school. There will be no refund of tuition
following the second calendar week after beginning school. If a student withdraws and tuition
has been paid in full for the year, tuition for any full remaining months will be refunded less the
discount given for early payment. Registration fees are non-refundable.
RETURNED CHECKS – There is a $15 service charge applied to the account for any check
returned by the bank. If may be necessary to ask that future payment be in the form of certified
check, money order or cash.
