/Postgraduate Training Residents/ Interns
and Medical Students.

JOB SUMMARY:
1.1
Responsible for academic affairs and training and helping to implement policies
and procedures of Academic Affairs.
1.2
Supervise all Saudi Board Training Programmes. To decide if the Interns will
be accepted or not, makes the decision to accept the student and allocates a
training schedule accordingly, supervise senior medical and medical technical
school students.
1.3
Supervises all suitable hospital researches.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A.)
CONTINUOUS MEDICAL EDUCATION:
1. Weekly schedules education events including Monday Noon Seminars and
Monday Morning Conferences.
2. Every 2 months, a list of departments which participate in these lectures is
compiled. Each department will provide the topics and names of speakers.
3. All Academic Affairs and Training lectures facilitated by the Academic
Affairs and Training Department have attendance registered on Form
GEN/F23. This form is keep in Academic Affairs and Training Office,
Medical Director will be informed of the level of attendance of staff and
trainees.
4. Organization and arrangements for Study Days and Asir Meetings are
channeled through the Academic Affairs and training Office which will
make necessary communication with clinical departments, nursing
education, training centre, medical colleges and other hospitals for
participation and invitations.

RESEARCH:
1. Approve all suitable and well targeted hospital researches and submit them
to Hospital Steering Team for final approval.
2. Support and encourage researches and liaise with other institution for
combined researches.
C.)
POST GRADUATE TRAINING:
1. Supervise all Saudi Board Training Programmes.
2. Supervise annual admission of new Saudi Board Trainees and arrange with
Supervisors for these areas.
3. Communication with Saudi Board Council with coordination of the
Programme Director and Medical Director for all Training and Trainee issues.
4. Communicate with all other government and educational institutes in the
Kingdom through the Programme Director in relation to education and
training.
5. Establish further educational needs for postgraduate programmes in
conjunction with the Medical Director.
D.)
MEDICAL INTERNS:
1. All interns interested in spending their full year or part of their rotations are
directed to Academic Affairs & Training Office, to present the official request
form from the Dean of the Medical School or his Deputy.
2. The intern rotation plan will be organized according to the Medical College –
Interns regulation and instruction.
3. A formal letter will be directed to each Clinical Head of Department indicating
the names of the interns, time expected of rotations, duration of rotations and
training requirements.
4. At the end of each rotation the intern assessment form will be sent to the
concerned Clinical Department to be filled by tutors and discussed with the
intern.

MEDICAL LIBRARY:
1. Supervise the operation of the Medical Library as per PPG’s
(AAT/ML001-010).
2. Support and facilitate the library’s requests for books, journals, CD’s slides
and all other necessities as budget allows.

AUDIOVISUAL AND MEDICAL ILLUSTRATIONS:
1. Establish the necessary audiovisual material devices needed for effective
continuous medical education programme.
2. Organize and monitor the proper utilization and care of these audiovisual
and medical illustration materials and devices. A log book is maintained
for servicing details.

HOURS OF WORK:
Whilst the contracted hours are 48 per week, this is a senior clinical post and the post
holder will be expected to work as many hours as are required to meet the objective
with no additional remuneration.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualification or Relevant Experience:
4.1.1
Has an Saudi Arab Board, British, Canadian or American fellowship or
Board in one of the Medical disciplines.
4.1.2
At least 5 years in a Senior Clinical Management position.
4.1.3
Has a diploma or Master degree in Medical Education (optional)
Personal Qualities:
4.2.1
The Assistant Director of Academic Affairs should be highly
motivated and capable of performing trainings to students.
4.2.2
A result orientated and multi-culturally experienced person will be
important.
