The Dean of Admissions Trinity College, Cambridge, England Recommendation for Kaloyan Lozanov Dear Sir, I have known Kaloyan Lozanov for 3 years, as a student from the lyceum to the University of Sofia - the “National High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences”, he actively consulted with lecturers from the Faculty of Physics. During his high-school years he has participated in every physics competition, held in Bulgaria, and he has gained first places on a vast majority of them. A good example for his outstanding achievements in physics Olympiads is that he became a national champion for all ages on this year’s annual national physics competition, he was given the chance to continue his studies at Lycée Louis-le-Grand in Paris after becoming a laureate of the prestigious “Concours Général de prof. Minko Balkanski” and also won a Bronze Medal at this year’s International Physic Olympiad (IPhO) held in Vietnam. All of those exceptional achievements he has realized in the last year. Kaloyan is seriously dedicated to science, during the past few years he has managed to solve all the problems in some of the best Russian and English textbooks that one can find in Bulgaria, which gave him very strong training and improved his understanding of physics. All of this work he has accomplished by himself, not induced by his teachers, as his schoolwork already exceeding the high school standards, but driven only by his own desire to extend his own knowledge. One can see the results of this extracurricular work by looking at his exceptional results from any competition he has participated in. He is mainly interested in physics, but knowing him I can tell, that he is seeking deeper knowledge in other fields of science as well. Kaloyan is an excellent student in high-school as well and I believe that in May 2009 he will graduate from the “National High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences” with the highest possible results (meaning score of 6.00 on his Bulgarian diploma). I can definitely say, considering my lecturer’s career since 1979 until now, that Kaloyan is a very capable student indeed and he would be among the best students anywhere in the World. I would also like to notice that he is sociable and easily works in team. He copes very well in team-work. In conclusion I recommend Kaloyan Lozanov without any doubt to be admitted in the famous Trinity College of Cambridge University, where I believe he will find the right ambience to continue his progress in physics.
