APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Application form duly filled out.

Original transcripts of 6th through 11th grades and a certificate of student’s enrollment in 11th grade.
Applicants who have completed their high school should attach transcripts up to the 11 th grade and a
copy of their High School Diploma.

Original and legible certification of the ICFES Governmental Examination. For applicants who took the
examination before the year 2000, the minimum score required is 280/400 points.

Two 3x4 cm size photographs.
HISTORICAL OUTLINE
The Bachelor of Arts in the Teaching of Modern Languages was first offered in the early 1960’s by the
School of Education. In 1988, it was transferred to the Department of Modern Languages, and since 1994
it has been offered by the School of Communication and Language.
PROGRAM ACCREDITATION
In compliance with Decree 272 of 1998, the Bachelor of Arts in the Teaching of Modern Languages holds
Previous Accreditation and has been certified as an academic program that fulfills the academic
requirements established to guarantee good quality.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
The main goal of the Bachelor of Arts in the Teaching of Modern Languages is to prepare students in the
field of Linguistics Applied to the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
APPLICANT’S PROFILE
Applicants to the Bachelor of Arts in the Teaching of Modern Languages should have the necessary skills
that enable them to develop appropriate foreign-language teaching competences. Likewise, they should
have the intellectual conditions necessary to comply with all study plan requirements in the areas of
knowledge involved.
PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Holders of the Bachelor of Arts in the Teaching of Modern Languages work mainly as teachers. However,
they have the possibility of working in the publishing sector, in the translation of written texts, and also in
Educational Management-related positions.
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
As part of their education, students of the Bachelor of Arts in the Teaching of Modern Languages will
acquire experience as Teacher Assistants and Practicing Teachers at different institutions.
OUR CAMPUS:
In an area of more than 16 hectares of land and nearly 90,000 m² of built area, 26 buildings are set up for
the development of academic programs and the operation of service units, such as the library, a radio
station, an audio-visual center, two hospitals, four banking institutions, ten cafeterias, six auditoriums, a
sports center, a soccer field, more than 1,000 parking places, 17,000 m² of enjoyable squares, and 74,000
m² of gardens, groves, and green zones through which more than 30,000 people pass daily, including
students, teachers, employees, visitors and users of our services.
Our campus has several access routes, such as the 7 th Avenue, 45th Street, Circunvalar Avenue, and the
new and comfortable transportation system called Transmilenio.
