Objectives: Expose students to theories and practices of leadership across disciplinary boundaries Shape their definition of leadership so that they understand it occurs at the interchange of vision and action Teach them the importance of vision being informed by values Provide practical skills in the art of working with people in the formulation and attainment of a vision Encourage in them an understanding of leadership as a focus of academic inquiry and research MINOR REQUIREMENTS: Foundational Courses (both required) LED 210 Group Dynamics and Leadership (offered spring) PHL 215 Ethics and Decision Making (offered fall) 8 sh 4 sh 4 sh Theory of Leadership (choose one) BUS 424 Responsible Leadership (offered fall and spring) Prerequisite: BUS 202, BUS 323 PSY 368 The Psychology of Leadership (offered spring) Prerequisite: LED 210 or PSY 111 or BUS 303 4sh 4 sh Leadership Elective (choose one) POL 325 The Presidency POL 326 The Congress HUS 213 Groups and Communities HUS 411 Administration of Human Services Agencies ENG 304 Understanding Rhetoric REL 338 Searching for the Sacred: Contemporary Theologians SOC 331 The Self and Society SOC 343 Social and Cultural Change HST 338 Germany: War, Democracy and Hitler, 1914-1945 HST 357 America’s Civil War HST 365 Social Movements in Post-Civil War America JCM 300 Reporting for the Public Good JCM 302 Broadcasting in the Public Interest JCM 304 Public Relations and Civic Responsibility *other courses approved by the program coordinator 4sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh 4 sh Capstone Experience (required) LED 450 Leadership in Action (offered spring) Prerequisites: LED 210, PHL 215, BUS 424 or PSY 368, one elective 4sh 4sh Total SH 20 sh 4 sh Leadership Minor – Information Sheet Name: Graduation Year: Datatel Number: Email: Local Phone: Cell Phone: Major/Minor: Academic Advisor: @elon.edu GRADUATION PLAN: Foundational Courses (8 hrs) 1.
