H O W T O A P P L L Y : : Freshman and Transfer applicants to Georgia Military College must submit the following:

1.

_____ A properly completed and signed official application for admission.

2.

_____ A $35 non-refundable application fee.

3.

_____ In addition, the following documents are required for admission: (This form is a checklist. Please note that all applications and supporting documents submitted to GMC become the property of GMC and will not be returned to the applicant or sent to another institution.)

A.

Freshman: (a student who has graduated from a regionally accredited high school, completed the GED, or has less than 20 quarter hours of transferable college credit).

_____ Students should request that an official high school transcript be sent to the GMC campus the student plans to attend.

2.

_____Freshman applicants who earned a General Educational Development Diploma (GED) should request that an official GED score report be sent to the GMC campus the student plans to attend.

3.

_____Joint Enrollment/Early Admission/ACCEL students must have a minimum combined critical reading and math score of 970 on the SAT (or ACT

Composite of 20), minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in academic subjects, written approval (joint enrollment) or written recommendation (early admission) from the high school principal, written consent of the parent or guardian (if the student is a minor) and have SAT scores of at least 450

Critical Reading (ACT Reading 18), 450 Math (ACT Math 18), and 450 Writing (ACT English 18) to exempt all Learning Support requirements.

4.

_____Freshmen who have not submitted SAT scores of at least 450 Critical Reading, 450 Writing, and 450 Math are required to take the placement examination prior to enrollment.

5.

_____Home-schooled student applicants must submit a combined critical reading and math SAT score of 920 or ACT composite score of 19 in addition to a transcript reflecting the course work completed, an abbreviated bibliography of textbooks and/or assigned readings and a writing sample.

6.

_____Freshmen who have taken joint enrollment/ACCEL work while still in high school must submit an official college transcript in order to receive credit and proper advisement.

B.

_____Transfer: (a student who has completed 20 or more quarter hours of transferable college credit)

Students should request official transcripts be sent directly to the GMC campus the student plans to attend. A transcript from EACH college attended

(including technical) must be provided. Transfer students must be eligible to return immediately to the last college the student attended. Transfer students who have not completed college-level English and Math prior to transfer will be subject to placement testing at GMC.

C.

_____Transient: (an applicant who is enrolled in another college or university and meets minimum GMC freshman or transfer admission requirements

may seek temporary admission to GMC). Students should request that an official transient letter be sent from the Registrar’s Office of their home institution to the GMC campus the student plans to attend.

D.

_____Readmission of Former GMC Students: A GMC student who has been out of school one quarter or more (excluding summer) and who desires to be readmitted should submit a re-admission application. If the student has had a break in attendance at GMC that has not exceeded a 12-month period of time, call the GMC Admissions Office to update his or her application. The student should also request that official transcripts from any other institution the student may have attended since attending GMC be sent to the Admissions Office. Students who have attended another college or university since leaving GMC must meet all requirements for transfer student admission. A student wishing to return must give the Admissions Office sufficient notice to allow action by the appropriate Dean, if necessary. Students who have not attended GMC within the past 3 years must re-submit all official transcripts as well as the application fee.

E.

Senior Citizen Students: Georgia residents, aged 62 years or older who meet regular freshman admission requirements may register for classes and receive credit without payment of tuition and fees on a space available basis.

F.

Non-Degree Seeking Students: Students wishing to enroll as non-degree seeking students must meet regular admission requirements and are subject to placement testing. Except for those students who have an undergraduate, bachelor’s degree and are taking courses for purposes such as re-certification, non-degree seeking must declare a degree program after the completion of 15 quarter hours.
