PRACTICAL PLACEMENT 1. PURPOSE This document will describe the policy and procedures for 1.1. Arranging practical placements 1.2. Formalising agreements for placements 2. SCOPE The scope of this document applies to 2.1 All Chisholm staff, students and host organisations 2.2 All Practical Placements including: 2.2.1 Practical Placements 2.2.2 Structured Workplace Learning 2.2.3 Work Experience 2.2.4 Clinical Placements The scope of this document does not apply to 2.3 School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships 3. POLICY The policy statements that apply are 3.1 Chisholm Online will help students to source a work placement, and will liaise with a student’s workplace supervisor to ensure that the placement offers the student all opportunities to practise the skills and gain experience in the sector of study. If a student is already working in a regulated industry they may be able to complete all placement assessment in their own workplace. 3.2 There must be a separate practical placement arrangement for each student where more than one student is involved in the same practical placement 3.3 Practical placements cannot be undertaken within Chisholm (in any Business Area or operational area) 3.4 Students are covered by WorkCover while on practical placements 3.5 The CEO delegates authority to the relevant Executive Director, Business Area Manager or Senior Staff Member for signing practical placement agreements Chisholm Institute Policy: QMS109 © Chisholm Online 2014
