Dear Parents
You may have read in the local press about a number of schools having to close due
to a sickness bug. We are anxious that our school is not affected in this way. In order
to avoid such a situation we would advise that if your child shows symptoms of
diarrhoea, fever, nausea and vomiting that you seek medical advice. Any child sent
home from school with these symptoms should be kept at home for at least 24 hours
after the symptoms cease in order to prevent a further spread of infection.
Our School Council members are currently running a 'Handwashing Campaign' in
school. I hope that you will reinforce our advice about thorough handwashing with
your child; this is by far the best method to ensure everyone keeps well. We also
intend to make hand gel available in school for pupils to use after they have washed
their hands.
