Sebesta, Academic Chair, Health, Wellness, and Physical Education Department From: Elizabeth M. Gardner, Assistant Dean of Faculty Science, Mathematics, and Health Technologies Date: October 18, 1999 Subject: LETTER OF INTENT FOR COURSE ADOPTIONS — PE14 (BEGINNING TENNIS) AND PE18 (BASKETBALL/SOFTBALL) In the absence of a dean of faculty and at Dean Braxton’s direction, I am responding to your recent letter of intent in which you proposed adoption of two courses from other campuses — from Ammerman/Eastern, PE14 (Beginning Tennis); from Ammerman, PE18 (Basketball/Softball). I agree that these courses will be appropriate, timely additions to the Western Campus array of activity courses. Our new facilities, scheduled to be available for fall 2000, will include on-campus tennis courts for teaching PE14. The new field house and outdoor fields will make it possible to conduct PE18 on campus. You may proceed with your proposal through the normal governance process. Since you are proposing adoption of courses from other campuses, College Curriculum Committee (CCC) approval is necessary after department and area approvals on our campus. If approved by the CCC, the proposal will be returned to the Western Campus for final review and action by the Academic Assembly. Attachment c: James F.
