Planning Process The Dual Enrollment Office held numerous planning meetings throughout this past year in order to develop our departments Learning Outcomes. These meetings involved our staff, various university departments and our partner school districts. This planning process proved essential in determining areas of need and the direction we must go in order to improve our outcomes. II. Student Learning Outcomes for Program This following have been selected by our team as our department’s top priority: Personal and Educational Goals Independence Intellectual Growth III. Methodology A target group will be reviewed as part of the methodology in assessing our learning outcomes. Student Learning Outcome # 1: Personal and Educational Goals Sample Population: Our sample population will target first time 11th and 12th grade students who enroll into our dual enrollment program. Measures: Our research will determine if they have become accustom to our university system and the status of their academic progress. Data Collection Methodology: The data will be collected part through focus group and the other by preparing a report through Datatel to determine who is in good academic standing. Scoring: The scoring will be determined on a percentage basis and part measured through a scale. Student Learning Outcome # 2: Independence Sample Population: Our sample populations will target 100 12th grade students who enroll into our dual enrollment program. Measures: Our research will determine if this cohort of dual students is more independent their senior year in high school as opposed to last year. Data Collection Methodology: The data collection will be derived by conducting a focus group. Scoring: The scoring will be determined by the percentage of all participating in the focus group. Criteria: The criteria will be set at 90 % of those 12th grade dual students will be more independent then the previous year. Data Analysis Methods and timetable: The data analysis will commence when this report has been submitted for review and will conclude until a year from this entry date. Student Learning Outcome # 3 Intellectual Growth Sample Population: Our sample populations will target 100 12th grade students who enroll into our dual enrollment program. Measures: Our research will determine if this cohort of dual students increased their GPA from a year ago. Criteria: The criteria will be set at 70 % of the participants will have increased their intellectual growth from the previous year. Use of Technology to Accomplish Student Learning Outcomes It is our goal that each student in dual enrollment have access and utilized technology as part of their course work. Student Learning Outcome # 1 – Use of Technology The use of technology for learning outcome one commences when the students enrolls into dual by using our on-line application. As well as acquiring a username and pin to access Blackboard and download the course syllabi. Student Learning Outcome # 2 – Use of Technology When dual students apply on-line using our on-line application they are now displaying independence. When students download their transcript or syllabi online they continue to show their knowledge for the technology and overall independence. Student Learning Outcome #3 – Use of Technology As part of the student intellectual growth the university provides free on-line tutoring to our dual students. By utilizing this technology they will be able to improve their academic standing and excel in their course work. V. Reporting the Results Departmental Program Coordinator works with department faculty members to compile the results and analyses from the various parts of the assessment. X Staff input is solicited for recommendations concerning programmatic or curricular changes based on assessment results. Data obtain from assessment of Student Learning Outcomes is presented in the Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Report to the: Department Dean X Vice President for Academic Affairs Institutional Assessment Committee VI. Use of Results Results of the ongoing assessment of Student Learning Outcomes will be used in the following ways: X To refine goals for the program To correlate courses and programs to articulate Student Learning Outcomes To engage discussion about means of improving programs, student learning and classroom teaching To engage in long-range curricular planning for the program X To adjust programs, offerings, advising, and other department services with students’ expectations X To work actively and continuously toward improving the department VII.
