Junior District Auditions Information and Registration (optional)
We are delighted to hear that you have expressed an interest in auditioning for Districts! Each year we send
students to audition for the Massachusetts Northeastern Junior District Band, Girls’ Chorus, Boys’ Chorus, and
Orchestra. This is a wonderful experience for motivated musicians regardless of the outcome. The audition
process itself makes you a better musician! If you are selected for any of these groups, you will have the
honor of performing with very talented students under wonderful directors.
Before you commit to this audition, please read the important details listed below. If you would like to
audition, please return this form and a check for $13.00 made out to Georgetown Music Parents by Friday
December 4, 2015. New this year: Register ONLINE by December 4, directions at the bottom of this page. This
will allow time to order your music and provide sufficient time to practice! Good luck!

Important things to keep in mind:
 All instrumental students auditioning should be taking private lessons, as the audition selections
are challenging!
 All choral students would benefit from private lessons, but will have opportunities to work with
Mr. Terry and Mrs. Laflamme as needed; the audition piece is the same for all voice parts.
 Audition Date: Saturday, January 30, 2016 (Tenney Grammar School, Methuen; time TBD)
 Audition Fee: $13.00 per student, to be paid by student (checks to Georgetown Music Parents)
 Audition Requirements: Please refer to http://www.northeasterndistrict.org/junior.htm to find
detailed requirements for your instrument/voice part. All students must prepare the selection
listed on the website; instrumentalists must play scales and sight read as well. Instrumentalists
must purchase their own music through their private teacher or Mr. Messina. Please remind your
private teacher that you must use an original copy of music and it must be the correct edition. Our
school owns the choral music.
 ☺ Rehearsals:
If selected, you must be available April 6, 8, and 9, 2016
 ☺ Concert: If selected, you will perform on Saturday afternoon, April 9, 2016

Chorus Students:
Please note that we are allowed to bring 9 HS females and 9 MS females for girls’
chorus (no more than 3 on a part) (there will be an in-school audition if needed); there is no limit for
boys’ chorus auditions.
