Number beanbags and number jigsaws; table top activities. Practice selecting and writing numbers to 10 at random Investigating numicon resources – continuing with subtraction and doubles. Children exploring subtraction by using dice, without recording – mental maths. Explore doubles of numbers using dominoes and numicon scales – balancing numbers. Target – to be able to identify, say and order, with confidence, numbers 0-15. Laptops – Oxford Reading Tree / Espresso – number lines. Listening corner – tapes and headphones. Painting Area – ‘My Favourite Christmas Present’. Whiteboard and pens – free choice Sorting fruit – washing, discussing why we wash it, putting into baskets, sorting into groups, emptying fruit bin. ‘Key worker time’ – discussion about the children/how they’re feeling/what has been happing in their lives recently that they would like to talk about. Water – children’s choice; children to have a discussion together about what they want and why and show thoughtfulness towards each others feelings when making their decision – come to an agreement. Children given a job to be responsible for throughout the week.
