Approval of Agenda for August 19, 2015. Motion was made to approve the August 19, 2015 SBDM meeting agenda: Mrs. Cope Seconded: Mrs. Albright Result: All in favor II. Approval of SBDM Minutes. Motion was made to approve the SBDM minutes from the July 22, 2015 meeting: Mrs.Robinson Seconded: Mrs. Cope Result: All in favor III. Good News. * Mr. Diaz told the council that the beginning of the school year is off to a fantastic start. * Attendance percentages haven’t been under 95% so far this year. * Volleyball team is doing great. * The first football game is tonight. * Mrs. Cope informed the council that she had so many audition for the fall play that she has created extra parts for students. * We have 30 plus students running Cross Country and two parents. * We have visitors from the National Inst of School Leaders visiting our school for 2 days. They have been observing classes and will give Mr. Diaz their feedback from their observation soon. IV. V. Guest Remarks. None at this time. Review of Committee Meetings. None at this time. VI. New Business. 1. Budget Request-Mrs. Brewer. Mrs. Brewer is requesting $2,650.00 to purchase electrical drops in the Library to set up 32 extra computers for students. Following a discussion; Request to approve the purchase of the electrical drops providing Mr. Diaz finds the funds for the purchase: Mrs. Bernard Seconded: Mrs. Cheeks Result: All in Favor 2. Policy Revision Approval-Mr. Mayes. a. Schedule Policy 4.00 (Second Reading) Request to accept the second reading of the Schedule Policy 4.00: Mrs. Bernard Seconded: Mrs. Cheeks Result: All in Favor b. School Use Policy 5.00 (Second Reading) Request to accept the second reading of the School Use Policy 5.00: Mr. Robinson Seconded: Mrs. Brewer Result: All in Favor c. Staff Time Assignment Policy 2.00 (Second Reading) Request to accept the second reading of the Staff Time Assignment Policy 2.00: Mrs. Cope Seconded: Mrs. Albright Result: All in Favor 3. Southside Openings and Schedule Implications for 2016-2017 – Mr. Diaz. Mr. Diaz informed the council that Southside has reserved space for BSMS students for the 2016-2017 school year. 4. Remediation and Retention Plans – Mr. Diaz Mr. Diaz informed the council that in effort to help students who have been retained, their daily schedule will be spent in both grades. The first half of the day the students be in the grade they were retained in, and the second half of their day will be spent in the grade they are going in to. VII. Other Business. 1. Student Achievement Policy 1.02- Mr. Mayes. Mr. Mayes presented the new Student Achievement Policy 1.02, which combines four of our current policies. Following a discussion and noting some changes; Request to accept the first reading of the Student Achievement Policy 1.02, with changes: Mrs. Bernard Second: Mrs. Cheeks Result: Y 7 / N 2 Motion passes 2. Field Trip Approval – Mr. Diaz. Request for Mr. Diaz to have authority to approve field trips: Mrs. Bernard Second: Mrs. Smith Result: All in Favor VIII.
